Unilever Associate Brand Manager - Super Premium Ice Cream (Talenti & Magnum) Innovation in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey

Background & Purpose of the Job

Unilever is the #1 Ice Cream manufacturer globally and continues to grow with increased momentum. Our brands include Breyers, Magnum, Klondike, Talenti, Good Humor and Popsicle. North America Ice Cream is looking for an outstanding candidate to drive brand strategy and build the future of our Super Premium (Talenti & Magnum) innovation funnel.

We are looking for an intelligent, innovative, and creative Marketer with a passion for brands and foodie culture. The ideal candidate will drive the business forward with out of the box ideas, strong leadership of the cross-functional team and have strong business acumen to help develop strategic roadmaps across Super Premium. This position will require an in-depth understanding of brand development, which includes market trends, consumer focus, and category dynamics. The role will require both strategic thinking and understanding of logistical execution to continue to profitably grow and develop both Talenti and Magnum in the US.

Who You Are & What You’ll Do

This is an exciting and unique role that spans across both local and global brands. This position will focus on leading the strategic brand development of America’s #1 Gelato and Sorbetto brand, Talenti, with over $400 million in POS through development of innovation, communication, and future-fit brand strategy. This position will also support the continued brand development of the #1 Ice Cream brand globally, Magnum, with $170 million in POS in the US. This brand is known for its decadent Belgian chocolate, over the top indulgence, and partnership with top trend setters in fashion, music, and culture.

Core responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Lead strategy and development of future Innovation roadmap across across Talenti (70% of focus) and Magnum (30% of focus), in partnership with Brand Manager, with support from cross functional team to ensure product mix is competitive and aligned to Super Premium growth ambitions

  • Lead trend work and consumer research by partnering with Insights team to conduct research on new innovation, product concepts, & communication assets across Talenti & Magnum

  • Talenti is a priority brand for North America and needs to continue to evolve to match our growth ambitions, through innovations, renovations, and new segment development.

  • You will be tasked with leading Talenti future strategy work, including the management of each product segment, future segments, & detailed financial analyses

  • Lead inspiring, unmissable brand communication, from creative agency briefings through to the development of final assets on Talenti

  • Partner closely with Operations and Digital marketing teams to craft 2025 communications strategy on Talenti

  • Support the development of future portfolio strategy on Magnum to focus on stabilizing the core and driving competitiveness in the category

  • Support channel development of Talenti and Magnum to increase brand distribution and drive penetration (i.e. club packs, new price and pack architecture) in partnership with customer teams

  • Build and maintain strong relationships across the Ice Cream community, North American brand teams, Global marketing teams, cross functional teams, and agency partners; identify and mobilize needed resources to accomplish brand/project goals.

  • Day to Day management includes:

  • Run and conduct market analysis to understand market trends and opportunities for Total Super Premium category

  • Daily cross-functional innovation team leadership

  • Long term capacity planning and strategic financial planning for Talenti & Magnum

  • You’re a born leader: This position requires strong leadership & influencing skills as you will interact with cross-functional business partners, brand partners in multiple categories as well as agencies. Having a vision and strategic intent will be critical to deliver impactful communications and creative.

  • You have a bias for action: This position will require someone to operate in a fast-moving, dynamic environment, and this individual is not satisfied with the status quo

  • You generate powerful insights: Our work starts with understanding what drives our consumers to purchase, and crafting plans based on those insights, including nuances based on the shopping occasion and retail channel. This position will require the ability to write up and validate consumer concepts for innovations and communications.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor’s Degree in marketing or related field required

  • At least 2-3 years of marketing experience in consumer products industry, preferably with experience in innovating new products, strategic thinking and brand communications

  • Ability to think strategically and brings results in a fast-changing business environment

  • Clear demonstration of project management & leadership skills. Proven track record of drive and proactivity, with a keen hunger for growth and accountability

  • Strong bias for action with clear demonstration of ownership through acting as if the business was your own

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

  • Strong consumer love with a desire to work in the fun and exciting Ice Cream category!
