Robert Half Staff Accountant in Encino, California

Description

We are offering a contract employment opportunity for a Staff Accountant in the education industry, based in Encino, California. This role is integral to the financial operations of our organization, with emphasis on Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Bank Reconciliations, and General Ledger duties. The Staff Accountant will also be expected to possess skills in Journal Entries and Paychex Payroll.

Responsibilities:

• Manage Paychex payroll functions, ensuring timely and accurate payment to all staff

• Oversee the preparation and maintenance of all AP and AR records

• Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy in financial statements

• Maintain the general ledger and ensure it reflects accurate and up-to-date information

• Prepare journal entries and post them to the general ledger

• Collaborate with other team members to streamline financial processes and improve efficiency

• Conduct regular financial analyses and prepare reports on findings

• Assist in the development and implementation of internal financial controls and procedures

• Provide support during internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with established standards

• Stay updated with industry trends and current best practices in accounting.

Requirements • Candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• Proven experience as a Staff Accountant in an educational setting is highly desirable.

• Proficiency in accounting software.

• Experience in managing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) is required.

• Familiarity with Bank Reconciliations and Journal Entries is necessary.

• Knowledge of Paychex Payroll system is a plus.

• Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

• Excellent analytical skills with an attention to detail.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically.

• Willingness to keep up with advancements in the field of Accounting.

• Must have a high level of integrity and dependability.
