Operations - Maintenance/Administration
Reports to Operations Supervisor
To maintain the physical school plant, grounds, systems, and equipment in a safe, clean, and orderly condition of full operating excellence at all times, in support of the educational program and all related activities.
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions
- Assists the Director of Operations by assessing work requests, estimating job costs, recommending vendors, ordering materials, performing work, tracking material and labor costs, and completing work in a timely fashion.
- Performs preventive and routine maintenance and repairs in the respective skill area to school buildings, grounds, and equipment as assigned by immediate supervisor or designated supervisor.
- Maintains a working knowledge of federal, state, and local codes and regulations relative to the job skill classification.
- Reports all safety, operational, and work-related concerns to immediate supervisor, designated supervisor, or Director of Operations in accordance with district policies and procedures.
- Maintains all relevant paperwork, including departmental safety and maintenance records, work order information, daily timesheets, invoices, receipts, etc.
- Communicates and interacts appropriately with building and central office administration and staff, co-workers, supervisors, students, parents, and other members of the public.
- Participates actively in meetings, activities, and in-service training opportunities and utilizes information received to improve performance.
- Actively interacts with all district computer systems including but not limited to timesheets, online forms, online training, and electronic mail with training provided as necessary.
- Available for emergencies and projects requiring overtime.
- Performs such other functions as directed by the supervisor as previously performed from time to time, such other functions that are reasonably related to the employee's responsibilities.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Job specific certifications if required to perform appropriately in the classification, e.g., chemical spraying license, asbestos certification, etc.
- Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, safety best practices, and recognizing hazards.
- Working knowledge in the trades related to facility maintenance, repair, and techniques.
- Documented professional development in areas of responsibility preferred.
- Successful completion of BCI/FBI background checks.
