SUMMARY

Tests, services, and repairs all pumps utilized by the South Columbia Basin Irrigation District (District). Services valves, gear boxes, and hydraulic systems relating to check gates and pumping plants that the District operates.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Responsible for periodic inspection of pumps to maintain operational integrity of all units during the water season.

2. Determines schedule of yearly maintenance by observing, testing, and measuring acceptable tolerances of rotating parts.

3. Removes and installs pumps as required utilizing established safety procedures of rigging using fixed hoist and hydra crane.

4. Services and maintains the hydraulic systems of the District relating to the valves and pumps the District operates.

5. Services and maintains air compressors at the District within the scope of reasonable "in-house repair."

6. Performs light welding to accommodate repairs of pumps and piping systems.

7. Installs pipe systems as required relating to pumps, hydraulics, and compressors.

8. Supplies input to problem solving by using basic operational theory of split case, turbine, mixed flow, and propeller pumps.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

1. Inspects hoists and cranes in the major pump plants to insure safe operational condition.

2. Keeps area watermasters aware of pump sites condition regarding weeds or cleaning.

3. Advises attending Ditchrider of any special circumstances regarding pump plants.

4. Interacts with electricians and watermasters for scheduling service and problem solving.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must possess or be able to acquire a Class A Washington State Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

Pay: $26.40 - $31.26 per hour
