Arnot Health Service Line Director - Nursing Administration in Elmira, New York

Job Description

MAIN FUNCTION:

The Service Line Director will participate in functional decision-making processes necessary to the successful attainment of the Mission of Arnot Health, in addition to maintaining awareness of changes in healthcare clinical matters that could have an impact on the success of the hospital. Reports to the Associate Chief Nursing Office and/or Chief Nursing Officer.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

**1. Demonstrate leadership competency through oversight of designated nursing service lines.

**2. Assist the ACNO/CNO in providing leadership to nurse associates that will enroll their support, create ownership of goals, and encourage active participation in decisions that impact nursing.

  1. Collaborates with nursing leaders to promote appropriate staffing

**4. Actively participates in quality initiatives to ensure implementation and consistency of evidence-based practices

  1. Assist in maintaining regulatory compliance and quality accreditation.

  2. Build credibility with physicians and non-nursing departments as a champion for patient care, quality, and the nursing profession

  3. Assist in planning new services that generate additional sources of profitable revenue

  4. Create an environment that will encourage recruitment and retention

  5. Assist in development and oversight of departmental budgeting, managing costs, and continually seeking data that will identify opportunities for cost-savings

  6. Holds self and others accountable for exhibiting Arnot Health Service Excellence Standards, and owning and resolving Service Recovery concerns.

  7. Assist in establishing standards for nursing practice and maintain authority, accountability, and responsibility for nursing services.

  8. Develop policies and procedures that describe how nursing care is assessed, delivered, and evaluated

  9. Plan and provide nursing care interventions, and promote improvement and patient comfort and wellness.

  10. Represent nursing service lines at meetings as deemed necessary; participates with department heads in designing and providing patient care and services

  11. Meets population specific and all other competencies according to department requirements

  12. Promotes a Culture of Safety by adhering to policy, procedures, and plans that are in place to prevent workplace injury, violence, or adverse outcomes to associates and patients.

  13. Is responsible for attending all annual mandatory educational programs as required by position.

  • Employee understands and demonstrates the importance of satisfying the needs of the customer/patient by interacting with him/her in a friendly and caring way, being attentive to the customer’s needs, both psychologically and physically, and by taking the initiative to maintain communication with the customer in order to provide a secure and pleasant experience with the Medical Center.

EDUCATION:

Required: BSN required. MSN required or completed within 3 years. CPR, Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire date. ACLS/PALS/NRP relevant to clinical area.

Preferred: Certification in nursing specialty

EXPERIENCE:

Required: 3 years of progressive leadership experience and 5 years of clinical experience.

Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Desired:

Experience in budget management, staff development, and regulatory compliance is desired. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are essential to role.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Appreciable physical effort required. Moving, lifting, and assisting patients whose size and physical ability can vary greatly. Some lifting, reaching, and stooping. Required to be on feet often.
