Job Summary Central Washington University is recruiting an Assistant Professor of Film to join our Theatre and Film team in Ellensburg, Washington. The Role: This position in the Department of Theatre & Film is expected to teach existing introductory and advanced Film courses in film production. Position co-coordinates the curriculum and activities of the Film Program. In this role the position is expected to contribute to the department's on-going antiracist pedagogical practices and consent-based creative work; to create a campus environment that is welcoming, inclusive and increasingly diverse; and to contribute to the department/program. Faculty will integrate CWU's commitment to diversity and create a learning environment that is welcoming, accessible and inclusive for all students. Minimum Qualifications MFA or terminal degree in filmmaking or production Scholarship/Creative Activity and teaching interests in Film Production/Cinematography/Editing/Screenwriting Some college-level teaching experience Willingness to teach a wide range of courses at all levels and modalities Research, teaching, service or other experience that has prepared the candidate to contribute to CWU's commitment to the engagement and inclusion of culturally diverse students. Preferred Qualifications Three or more years of collegiate level teaching experience Demonstrated teaching and scholarship/creative activity in Film Production, Cinematography, Editing, and/or Screenwriting Documented experience as a filmmaker Documented experience working with diverse students, including neurodivergent, LGBTQ+, and students of the global majority Documented experience in curriculum development and leading/leading a program area Experience with Learning Management Systems such as Blackboard or Canvas Ability to incorporate Diverse perspectives and issues into curriculum and the academic environment for 21st century leadership and filmmaking.
