Merck Animal Health Specialist, Packaging Robustness Engineer in Elkhorn, Nebraska
The Elkhorn, Nebraska site is hiring a Packaging Robustness Engineer. The primary focus of this role is to provide direct support to packaging equipment and robustness projects, as well as maintain oversight of the execution of manufacturing operations and accompanying packaging staff. The selected candidate will primarily work a 4 x 10 weekend day shift (Fri - Sun), with flexibility around the fourth workday.

Position Responsibilities
Employee Development and Leadership:
Models Company leadership principles and inclusive behaviors.
Provides coaching and supports skills development and process capabilities within the packaging IPT.
Is responsible for providing effective feedback and coaching within the team
Responsible for leading Tier and functional team meetings.
Responsible for identifying packaging line issues responsible for operational downtime, identifying solutions and driving resolution, all the while keeping key stakeholders informed.
Project management of improvement projects
Safety Compliance:
Demonstrates a strong compliance mindset (EHS, Quality and Finance) and continuously sets a high standard for themselves and their team.
Ensures that themselves and their team follow safe operating instructions for all tasks and equipment.
Ensures that the right tools and equipment specified for the task are available and utilized.
Ensures that the correct personal protective equipment required is available and utilized.
Ensures all incidents and near misses are reported within 24 hours and participates in the investigation and identification of effective corrective and preventative actions (CAPA).
Quality Compliance:
Supports the on-time completion of Quality compliance tasks in relation to Deviation, CAPA and Change Control management.
Supports all aspects of Quality Assurance including cGMP, RFT and good documentation practices and provides coaching to the rest of their team.
Productivity:
Support daily, weekly, and monthly schedule adherence of production activities within the packaging department.
Contributes to creating a culture of continuous improvement and leads by example.
Sponsors effectives problem solving and ensures that resources are available.
Ensures visibility and communication of key productivity metrics with the teams.
Responsible for the implementation and execution of Standard Work in all functional areas.
Financial:
- Recognizes and investigates opportunities for financial savings.
Education Minimum Requirement:
High School Diploma/GED with 3 - 5 years packaging work experience preferably in the vaccine, pharmaceutical, food, or equivalent industry or
Bachelors degree with 1-2 years work experience in a packaging environment, preferably vaccine, pharmaceutical, food or equivalent industry

Prior experience supporting complex packaging systems
