Job Overview:The Point of Care Testing (POCT) and Phlebotomy Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all activities related to point-of-care testing and phlebotomy services within TRMC healthcare facility. This role ensures compliance with regulatory standards, maintains quality control, and supervises the daily operations and staff. The Supervisor will coordinate with various departments to ensure effective and efficient service delivery, manage training programs for staff, and participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or related field.

  • MT (ASCP) or MLS (ACP) certification is required.

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in POCT and Phlebotomy.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in laboratory information systems and related technology.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment

Preferred:

  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred but not required.

Essential Functions:

Supervision and Leadership:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the POCT and phlebotomy departments

  • Supervise and mentor a team of phlebotomists and POCT personnel, providing guidance and support.

  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and implement performance improvement plans when necessary.

  • Quality Control and Compliance:

  • Ensure all POCT and phlebotomy procedures comply with CLIA, CAP, and other regulatory standards.

  • Develop and maintain quality control programs and ensure all testing and specimen collection meet quality standards.

  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.

  • Training and Development:

  • Design, implement, and manage training programs for new and existing staff on POCT and phlebotomy procedures and best practices.

  • Keep staff updated on new techniques, equipment, and protocols through continuous education initiatives.

Operational Management:

  • Develop and implement standard operating procedure (SOPs) for POCT and phlebotomy via MediLab software application.

  • Communicate with Clerical Administrative Assistant to manage inventory, and ensuring adequate supplies and equipment are available and maintained.

  • Coordinate with Inpatient, Outpatient, and ER departments to ensure seamless integrations of POCT services with the overall patient care process.

  • Ensure all POCT and phlebotomy procedures are performed accurately and efficiently.

  • Monitor and maintain quality control standards, including calibration and maintenance of equipment.

Patient Care:

  • Ensure excellent patient care and satisfaction in all interactions.

  • Address and resolve patient concerns or complaints related to phlebotomy and POCT services.

  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care and service delivery.

  • Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of all POCT and phlebotomy activities.

  • Prepare and submit reports on operational metrics, quality assurance, and compliance.

  • Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practice.

  • Stay current with advances in laboratory technology and methodologies.
