Robert Half Controller in Elgin, Illinois

Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Controller in the manufacturing industry. The role is based in ELGIN, Illinois, United States. As a Controller, you will be responsible for directing the business unit’s Finance function, developing annual budgets and strategic business plans, designing internal control systems, and managing working capital targets among other duties.

Responsibilities:

• Direct the activities of the business unit’s Finance function to ensure information is prepared and maintained in accordance with all statutory and regulatory requirements as well as Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

• Develop annual budget and strategic business plan in partnership with business unit leadership and ensure the achievement of performance targets

• Design internal control systems and framework to satisfy Sarbanes Oxley requirements and ensure all documentation is prepared and completed in accordance with policy

• Collaborate with the General Managers and the Finance team regarding all decisions and implementations concerning adequate internal controls, processes, and procedures, investments, dispositions, pricing, accounting judgments and commercial decisions

• Act as a liaison between Operations and Sales to facilitate information flow and decision-making

• Share responsibility of forecast accuracy and result achievement with the business unit’s leadership team

• Review and approve purchase and sales contracts to mitigate unexpected losses and meet profitability expectations

• Coordinate internal and external audits and resolve any identified issues timely

• Manage working capital targets

• Create and present relevant financial reporting of performance and detailed analysis of variances and their root causes. Develop action plans to reduce variability

• Ensure bad debt losses are minimized through active management of outstanding accounts

• Apply continuous improvement in methodology to coordinate, lead and improve the cost structure of the business unit.

Skills required include Financial Statement Preparation, Manufacturing Assembly, and Manufacturing. Requirements • Must have a minimum of 10 years of experience within the manufacturing industry.

• Proven experience as a Controller or similar role is required.

• Proficiency in financial statement preparation is essential.

• Familiarity with manufacturing processes and assembly lines.

• Extensive knowledge of manufacturing standards and regulations.

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and direct entire operational units.

• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Excellent communication and presentation skills.

• Advanced organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.

• Proficiency in relevant software applications and technology.

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.

• Relevant professional certifications such as CMA or CPA will be an asset.

• Must have a keen attention to detail and commitment to achieving high levels of accuracy.

• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

• Strong ethical standards and high levels of integrity.
