Leads team to fulfill the TPWD Mission in a manner that embodies the departments core values. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: preservation of cultural and natural resources; oversight of the park maintenance program and repair of facilities, grounds, and equipment; visitor and customer services; financial management; human resources management, including recruitment and retention of a workforce; and educational and interpretive program management. Assists in the oversight of the park safety program and ensures compliance with department standards. Assists with public relations activities, including marketing and promotion, special events, community outreach, volunteer development and coordination. Serves as Park Superintendent during his/her absence. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs any additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures. NOTE: Salary range is limited to commissioned officers in the park management track prior to 9/1/2020. State Park Law Enforcement career ladder eligibility requirements must be met to advance from the base rate-of-pay. Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelors degree. Experience: Two years experience in (1) natural/cultural resources management; OR (2) general maintenance; OR (3) public safety; OR (4) interpretation and education; OR (5) public relations or marketing or promotions. Licensure: Must possess a valid State driver's license. ACCEPTABLE SUBSTITUTIONS: Education: Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) employees hired prior to January 1, 1998, with no break in service and with a minimum of sixty semester hours may substitute two years of TPWD experience in park management supervision or operations for the required degree.
