Position Description:
This position is responsible for providing services at Children's Hospital. This includes examination of patients, ordering x-rays and laboratory tests to help make an accurate diagnosis, and planning and execution of treatment. The person in this position works in a busy, pressured environment and sees a high volume of patients, as needed by TTUHSC and The Children’s Hospital.

Major/Essential Functions:
Provides patient care to newborns, children, and adolescents in the hospital setting
Supervises medical students, residents, and advanced practice professionals in the clinical setting
Participates in the education of medical students and residents
Ensures compliance with HIPPAA and billing regulations
Demonstrates Professionalism in accordance with the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine’s Declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibility

Preferred Qualifications:
Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Pediatric Hospital Medicine Fellowship Program
Board certification in Pediatric Hospital Medicine by the American Board of Pediatrics
Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Pediatric Neonatology Fellowship Program or Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Fellowship Program
Board Certified in either sub specialty Neonatology or Pediatric critical Care Medicine by the American Board of Pediatrics or eligible to sit for examination
Bilingual (English and Spanish)
Experience in teaching students and residents in Pediatric Hospital Medicine

Required Qualifications:
Graduated from an approved accredited School of Medicine with an M.D. degree
At least three years post-graduate training in primary care medicine
Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Texas or have the ability to transfer license to Texas
Certificate or license for prescribing controlled substances
M.D. or D.O. degree, or foreign equivalent
Successful completion of an AOA- or ACGME-accredited Pediatrics Residency Program
Texas medical license, or eligibility for licensure in the state of Texas
Board certification in general pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics or the American Osteopathic Board of Pediatrics
