Eaton Corporation Paint Engineering Specialist in El Paso, Texas

Eaton’s Electrical division is currently seeking a Paint Engineering Specialist. This role can be located remotely within North Carolina, South Carolina, El Paso TX, Milwaukee WI, Waukesha WI, or Lincoln IL.

This position will lead strategic programs and productivity improvements as a subject matter expert in paint processes used in Electrical Sector Americas (ES-A) internal and external manufacturing. The Paint Engineering Specialist initiates and manages complex engineering projects related to paints, coatings, and related manufacturing processes for the ES-A internal and external manufacturing sites. This position collaborates with all business units engineering and operations departments, with a focus on manufacturing support. The Paint Engineering Specialist acts as a liaison between internal and external customers/end users, and the engineering team as needed. The incumbent evaluates and recommends through the use of developing and evolving product and process technology roadmaps in partnership with the supported businesses.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $105,000 - $154,000 a year.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead and mentor the 20+ manufacturing sites on world class manufacturing and productivity improvements

  • Become ES-A subject matter expert (SME) for paint and supporting processes

  • Cognizant of paint across ES-A and suppliers; lead technology roadmap for process development

  • Establishes and provides design for manufacturing guidelines to support product lines

  • Leads value engineering, DOE, RIE events, problem-solving tools to improve part cost, quality, performance and existing manufacturing challenges

  • Maintains awareness of leading processes, material technologies, trends and applicability to ES-A operations

  • Develops and support portfolio of improvement programs across ES-A paint operations including materials, machines, and process control

  • Interfaces with ES-A paint suppliers to assist supply chain staff with supplier development and performance

  • Develops and maintains skills requirements for paint staff across ES-A

  • Charged with assisting the divisions and sites in achieving product performance and functional continuous improvements including but not limited to: product cost reductions, the implementation of technical innovations, and the innovative resolution of technical and manufacturing problems.

  • Work with maintenance team, and outside contractors to implement new equipment and processes, improve performance, and minimize equipment downtime

  • Coordinates best practice implementation between multiple facilities

  • Manages capital and expense spending for assigned projects and prepares financial justification for projects in support of CAR analysis

Basic (Required) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution

  • Minimum 7 years applicable industry experience in the area of paint and related processes

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future

  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of the location(s) listed will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Materials Science from an accredited institution

  • Strong product manufacturing knowledge

  • Experience with CIF, Lean, Six Sigma, Quality Management Systems and EHS implementation associated to coatings

Skills:

  • Up to 25% travel

  • Metal pre-paint pretreatment techniques

  • Liquid coating systems (Plural Component)

  • Powder coating

  • Electrocoating

  • Coating system application techniques (Electrocoat, Powder Coating and Liquid Materials)

  • Curing processes

  • Expertise in materials, processes, equipment and approaches for different coatings technology

  • Strong product manufacturing experience and knowledge

  • Understanding of Industry Standards and how they apply to the product

  • Excellent oral, interpersonal and written skills with the ability to effectively communicate

  • Very detail oriented, manage multiple projects simultaneously and work to deadlines with a high degree of accuracy

  • Computer knowledge and the ability to use Microsoft Office tools and utilize the computer to analyze and solve complex problems

  • Experience with CIF, Lean, Six Sigma, Quality Management Systems and EHS implementation associated to paint
