Schlumberger Rig Manager in El Coca, Ecuador

Description:

The purpose of the position is to manage the company's interests at the rig site with respect to health, safety and environmental (HSE) compliance, customer relations, well program implementation, reporting and the platform staff. The Rig Manager assists the Rig Superintendent in managing the unit as a secure, independent profit center while providing first-class drilling services and HSE performance to clients.

A successful person in this position must have communication skills to manage an adequate relationship with the client and the staff in charge, leadership skills and good analytical skills. Also, it is important that the person has solid knowledge in the management of Safety Management Systems (HSE), techniques for managing Drilling Operations, basic drilling calculations, API Standards, etc.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assume authority and responsibility to make decisions with respect to quality, HSE, security and personnel at the rig site.

  • Conduct weekly, pre-tour and toolbox meetings.

  • Supervise activities to ensure the rig's structural integrity is maintained. Approve and maintain the Rig Emergency Plan.

  • Train and evaluate the rig crew.

  • Ensure risks are properly assessed and mitigated, and HSE policies are communicated and followed by rig personnel.

  • Liaise with the customer’s representative at the rig site to implement the well program and maintain positive relations.

  • Plan, organize and manage daily rig operations, including drilling, well testing, work-over, well control, rig down, rig move and rig up.

  • Supervise key and critical operations and ensure that all operations are properly planned and supervised.

  • Verify and sign off authorizations to rig up third-party equipment.

  • Verify the quality and HSE compliance of the worksite before signing off permits to work.

  • Oversee planned and preventative maintenance programs. Set priorities on equipment repairs with the Technology Lifecycle Management department.

  • Monitor rig equipment and systems usage and ensure that operational parameters and limits are observed. Supervise tests of equipment and systems.

  • Plan work for the rig crew.

  • Evaluate the performance of the Rig Supervisors.

Minimun Qualification & Experience:

  • Petroleum Technologist / Engineer, related.

  • Experience of at least 5 years as Rig Manager/ Toolpusher in 2000 HP Drilling equipment.

  • At least 15 Years of experience in Drilling Operations / Workover.

  • Supervisor Level Well Control Certification (IWCF Certification Preferred).

  • Pipe Sticking Prevention Certification.

  • Expertise in new generation AC/VFD type equipment.

  • Intermediate / Advanced English Level.

  • Residence in Ecuador.
