The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a multidisciplinary engineer to perform management, execution, and operations for assigned program(s) within the Division. Responsibilities Plans, coordinates, and manages all aspects of assigned program(s) through application of professional knowledge and skill in environmental engineering or scientific practices, processes, and techniques. Responsible for executing assigned programs, in-house and by contract, to comply with all applicable Federal, state, local environmental laws and policies. Provides advisory services on specific problems, projects, programs, and functions in assigned program area. Complies with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures and performs work that enhances the safety of the work environment. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional Engineering Positions located here, or the General Physical Science Series located here. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-02, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-11 or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience is experience in planning, coordinating, and managing all aspects of programs through application of professional knowledge and skill in environmental engineering or scientific practices, processes, and techniques; inspecting and evaluating reliability, flexibility, and maintainability of existing environmental equipment and systems and identifying deficiencies or improvement areas. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. IDEAL CANDIDATE will serve as an analyst to evaluate and verify AIM-260 performance executing a high-fidelity 6-DOF simulation in a High-Performance Computing Environment (HPCE) using Linux operating systems to explore the trade space informed by warfighter needs and CONOPS, highlighting the contributions provided by technology advancements in defeating current and projected threats as well as perform pre-flight and post-flight performance assessments using both simulation and flight test data. Candidate will use statistical data analysis techniques, regression analysis, machine learning, or other techniques to support analytical conclusions. Ideal candidate should have experience using MATLAB, JMP, Python, Excel, and/or other applications. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of professional environmental engineering or scientific principles, practices, techniques, and procedures to effectively perform project development, execution, training, and advisory services in assigned programs. 2. Engineering or scientific knowledge and skill to adapt standard practices, equipment, or technical knowledge for preparing or monitoring the preparation of specifications and designs for the improvement or alteration of existing or the eventual construction of new facilitates in consonance with natural resources and environmental protection and to assess the impacts of the facilities' or weapon system actives on Air Force personnel, public safety, ecology, cultural resources, and the environment. 3. Knowledge of applicable federal, state, or local laws, AF/DoD regulations, principles, methods, and techniques of environmental engineering or science and other guidance to make decisions and recommendations concerning assigned restoration, compliance, conservation, pollution prevention, and/or integration principles and practices; health, safety, and security practices as applied to weapon systems acquisitions and/or industrial plants. 4. Skill to integrate an interdisciplinary team of professionals to include attorneys, public health specialists, public affairs specialists, environmental physical scientists, biological scientists, regulators, program office personnel, other government officials, and community groups to obtain appropriate environmental goals. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying. BASIC REQUIREMENTS FOR 0801 OR 0819: A. Degree: Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. OR B. Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. Specified academic courses 4. Related curriculum OR BASIC REQUIREMENTS FOR 1301: A. Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics. OR B. Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
