What you can expect to do here:

Strategic Leadership: (Strategic Planning & Goal Setting)

  • Responsible for setting the overall direction for their team, in alignment with National objectives and guidelines;

  • Has an extensive knowledge of best practices in the Real estate and Facilities Management sectors. Including leasing, negotiation, ability to build strong relationships with landlords, brokers and other key contacts. Fully understands about HVAC, cleaning, internal client management and various other aspects of Facilities Management;

  • Applies advanced understanding of Real Estate and Facilities management in support of our internal client (various business sectors);

  • Provides strategic recommendations on all aspects of the real estate portfolio within their region whether leased or owned. Looking to become as efficient as possible while balancing cost and the client’s needs;

  • Support where necessary the implementation of all Real Estate projects in their region;

  • Challenges the status quo to develop and propose innovative National Real Estate and Facilities Management strategies that provide benefits and savings to the businessProven ability to effectively deliver on time-sensitive goals;

  • Enables a quality-of-service delivery focus. Establishes high standards for the delivery of Real Estate and Facilities Management services;

  • Develops processes that improve team efficiency;

  • Applies a continuous improvement focus with a national mindset. Demonstrates creativity and innovation to problem solving and develops benchmarks that will improve results with reduced cost or improved efficiency.  Responsible for identifying opportunities that will continuously improve all aspects of Real Estate and Facilities Management operations;

  • Provides input to departmental leaders for policies/procedures, policy proposals, and strategies to improve operational efficiencies; 

  • Reduces risk to the organization. 

People Management

  • Leads, manages, motivates, develops, and mentors the Regional Facility team to build strong, strategic leadership with clear succession planning. Providing people with opportunities to grow and show case their skills;

  • Builds strong relationships with staff and leadership, at the local, regional, and national level;

  • Identifies and leads opportunities to enhance employee productivity and operational processes, tools, and services;

  • Enables consistency in execution across employees and holds employees accountable to established policies;

  • Oversees the recruitment of Real Estate and Facilities staff, in collaboration with the People & Culture team;

  • Develops and helps their team grow with a “Next person up” mindset. We are a people business; our people are always at the front of everything we do.

Operational Leadership

  • Delivers on all Real Estate and Facilities Management aspects of the position in an efficient and cost affective manner. Ensuring that the client is at the centre of what we deliver as a team;

  • Makes independent decisions related to resources, approach, and tactical operations;

  • Works with and improves established guidelines/procedures to solve moderately complex matters with Real Estate and Facilities Management;

  • Exercises independent judgment within defined policies and procedures to determine appropriate action(s) for moderately complex issues;

  • Manages regional budget. Assesses and forecasts financial performance, including comparison of actuals to budget, considers outlook and manages activity to deliver agreed financial outcomes;

  • Supports the development of Real Estate and Facilities Management Administration such as FM contracts and contractor management, preventative maintenance, and emergency contact lists, off site archiving, service request logs and reporting;

  • Fosters sustainable minded practices towards implementation of energy reduction measures. 

What you’ll bring to WSP:

  • Diploma of Business Administration (or equivalent);

  • Min 5-10 years’ experience in similar role;

  • MCR from Corenet and/or IFMA training an asset;

  • Brings continuous improvement mindset;

  • Proven track record of delivering in a high paced and dynamic environment;

  • Display initiative and professionalism by challenging your skills and abilities to ensure your development is kept abreast of changing business needs;

  • Be flexible in your work by adjusting to multiple demands / shifting priorities;

  • Anticipate issues; generate new ideas, participate in team discussions and confidently action new or modified approaches to the role while always seeking to add value;

  • Utilise excellent oral and written communications skills;

  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency towards the performance outcomes of your role and appreciate the critical role your position plays within the group;

  • Exercise sound judgement and utilise your management skills to achieve positive outcomes;

  • Prioritise workloads to effectively perform all duties in relation to the provision of facilities support of the office in a timely and efficient manner;

  • Provide a high-quality service to maximise successful outcomes;

  • Conduct all external and internal client interactions while displaying a ‘can do’ attitude;

  • Exercise judgment and work without immediate supervision or direction, whilst also maintaining open and communication with both the executive team and facilities team;

  • Ability to balance quality, excellence, and timely delivery in all aspects of work.
