The Supervisor is the designated leader responsible for assisting the department Manager with the provision of high-quality care that is compliant with federal, state and local regulations. Responsibilities include but are not limited to oversight of daily operations, interprofessional collaboration, execution of policies and procedures, participation in financial management, development of strategic projects/initiatives, and support of growth, and the patient and staff experience. The Supervisor assesses, plans, implements, monitors and evaluates clinical practice and the clinical delivery system with direct supervision of the front- line staff.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Manager in the development, implementation and evaluation of clinical care and goals and objectives as they relate to patient care, quality and organizational initiatives.

  • Assists in management of day to day operations.

  • Monitors standards of practice, policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines to ensure compliance with internal and external regulatory agencies, for all clinical team members.

  • Assists with oversight of staff and patient scheduling, payroll, and department charges.

  • Promotes cost effective use of organizational resources, consistently supporting financial objectives and targets while managing acuity workload, volume, staffing plans, and equipment/supply management.

  • Demonstrates leadership skills by establishing and maintaining mutually supportive partners in care, displays effective communication, coaching and mentoring of team members. Performs ongoing performance appraisals and onboarding of new team members, as designated.

  • Assists the Manager in supporting the Magnet Program Director and Magnet program by ensuring the support of a shared governance model, collection of data, writing of exemplars and coordination of the documents as requested.

  • Prioritizes organizational goals and incorporates them into standard work, up to and including participation in committee work consistent with the mission, vision, and philosophy of the organization.

  • Professionally reviews complaints or opportunities for improvement with timely follow up to the appropriate department.

  • Assists dept Manager/Director in performance improvement activities and AACVPR certification for both programs.

  • Provides clinical care, as needed.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by leadership.

  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities, Required.:

  • Bachelor's degree in area of clinical concentration.

  • Three plus years clinical experience.

  • One year of progressive leadership experience.

  • The ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing patient needs, a strong sense of accountability for improving the lives of our patients and their caregivers, an exceptional focus on teamwork, dedication to ongoing education and the ability and passion to deliver the highest quality of care based on a strong sense of patient focus are all required.

Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities, Preferred.:

  • Master’s Degree in relevant field.

  • National Certification in area of especially when eligible

Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • NJ State Professional RN license, or National Certification/registration Exercise Physiology

  • AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification

  • AHA ACLS Certification
