The Manager, Regional Team Member Relations reports to the Dir, TM Relations and participates in the development, implementation, and administration of the TM Relations center of excellence strategy for their respective region or business line which is aligned to the broader organizational goals. The Mgr, Regional TM Relations will ensure designated Human Resources operations partners and business leaders have the support, counsel, tools, and resources needed to support human capital employee relations needs throughout the region. The Mgr, Regional TM Relations will be responsible for ensuring increasingly complex TM relations issues covering varying degrees of risk and intricacy are addressed, investigated, and resolved. The Mgr, Regional TM Relations should be able to assess situations to determine the risk to the organization, provide counsel, and escalate as needed. This role will be accountable for ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and an overall positive TM experience in assigned region and business units.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Manager, Regional Team Member Relations at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Seen as a subject matter expert of all matters related to Employee Relations, Policies, and Investigations for their respective sites and will be responsible for partnering with the HR Operations and leadership team on the execution, administration, and delivery of TM Relations services including, but not limited to, conducting investigations, corrective actions, conflict resolution, climate assessments, labor relations support, and monitoring compliance programs.

  • Leads, facilitates, and oversees TM relations throughout the assigned region.

  • Ensures TM matters are handled with consistency, fairness, and without discrimination.

  • Oversees the administration of the Regional TM Relations programs. Collaborates with regional entities to educate staff and leadership on various employee relations issues including, but not limited to, performance and conduct, work environment concerns, employment policy, coaching and investigations, and training and communication.

  • Conducts investigations and directs resolution of issues with increasing complexity, visibility and risk, both independently or by collaborating with leaders, peers in Human Resources and Legal as appropriate. Recommends solutions to address issues from a systematic perspective while prioritizing TM experiences to maintain a safe and professional work environment. Ultimately accountability for all aspects of investigations within the region or as needed.

  • Conducts investigations and interviews complainants, reported witnesses, and respondents related to employee relations matters.

  • Documents findings within the HR tools, and maintains appropriate levels of confidentiality. Tracks and documents findings gathered through interviews and the investigatory process. Responsible for ensuring all aspects of the investigation are thoroughly documented (e.g., interviews, findings, disciplinary actions). Utilizes tools to track data and information relating to a situation and documents relevant findings. Makes recommendations for refining, streamlining, and improving tools and their usage to improve future documentation needs.

  • Identifies and interprets trends in employee relations issues across business and region. Partners with HR Operations to oversee the implementation of action plans stemming from investigation trends, compliance opportunities, engagement surveys, and climate assessments in support of enhancing our overall TM experience.

  • Serves as the next step for appeals of dispute resolution matters. Supports and collaborates with the Dir, Labor Relations on the grievance/arbitration processes and contract administration activities for the assigned region and escalates matters as needed.

  • Keeps up to date with and ensures compliance with all federal and state laws, CBAs, HMH policies, Affirmative Action Programs as well as all Joint Commission and other regulatory standards within the assigned region or business units.

  • Facilitates understanding, interpretation, and application of HR policies throughout the organization. Keeps HR and leadership teams updated with any changes and trained accordingly.

  • Participates in the development and implementation of proactive plans and initiatives for positive TM relations.

  • Researches and analyzes data and common business practices across industries to ensure network policies and practices are consistent and competitive with those within the industry.

  • Provides guidance to TM Specialists in support of the region.

  • Provides support to the HR Operations team on Joint Commission, Department of Health, or other surveys as needed. Implements tools and templates as needed.

  • Responsible for handling confidential and time sensitive material.

  • Works with TMs across the organization, builds trusted relationships quickly, and leads with empathy, compassion, and creativity.

  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.

  • Adheres to HMH's Organizational and Managerial competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible HR experience.

  • Minimum of 3 years of investigation experience within a high volume employee relations department including interviewing of witnesses, taking notes, and writing investigation summaries.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of US Federal and State Employment laws including, but not limited to, Title VII, ADEA, FLSA.

  • Strategic thinker and knowledgeable of best practices for an Employee Relations function.

  • Sound critical thinking, problem-solving and negotiating skills, with the ability to apply those skills to a wide range of HR issues.

  • Excellent evaluation, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills.

  • Strong analytic skills and ability to present data to identify trends and offer strategic advice.

  • Excellent communicator with ability to present information in a clear and concise manner orally and in writing to ensure others understand ideas. Able to appropriately adapt message, style, and tone to accommodate a variety of audiences.

  • Objective, approachable, and able to interact effectively with all levels of employees both in person and virtually in a positive and respectful manner.

  • Able to maintain the highest level of personal integrity and confidentiality.

  • Adaptable and flexible, and motivated to drive results in a fast-paced environment where change is a constant, and can meet deadlines with a strong sense of urgency and adaptability.

  • Proficient with either MS Office or Google productivity tools.

  • Able to develop processes and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Able to support rollout of a proactive TM and labor relations strategy focused on building leadership skills to promote TM engagement.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Master's degree.

  • Bilingual or multilingual verbal communication skills.

Licenses and Certifications Preferred:

  • HR Certification.
