Summary Position may be filled as a term appointment Not-To-Exceed (2) years. Term appointments may be extended beyond six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. With DoD approval, term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years. Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a term appointment will be appointed/converted into a term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position. Responsibilities Drive sedans, vans, 44-passenger buses and 56-passenger MCI coach-style buses, loaded with personnel, articles, and materials throughout the installation and on public roads. Assist with loading and unloading materials and/or passengers. Complete preventive maintenance service records for vehicles. Minimum Qualifications: Ability to do the work of an Motor Vehicle Operator without more than normal supervision. Maneuver vehicles within close tolerances when driving and backing over uneven ground and in narrow or congested areas, between buildings and other vehicles; drive over long distances which usually involve interstate driving and night driving and driving in inclement weather conditions; assists with loading and unloading materials and/or passengers assuring the vehicle is not loaded beyond the rated capacity by checking cargo papers and by visual observation. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Handle Weights and Loads Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (related to mobile equipment operation) Ability to perform Motor Vehicle Operator duties w/o more than normal supervision Reading Comprehension Ability to perform Motor Vehicle Operator duties w/o more than normal supervision Works outside and is occasionally exposed to bad weather Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. This is a(n) Transportation Career Field position.
