Role Summary
This role is instrumental to accelerating the transition to sustainable, low carbon packaging supply across the business, supporting the delivery of our Spirit of Progress ambition.
You will focus on the development and delivery of packaging sustainability projects. You will also support key packaging suppliers to provide expertise and insights to support them in scoping, developing and delivering programmes to rapidly and efficiently decarbonise our packaging.
You will also work with the category buyers to help assess supplier performance and needs, to support the delivery of their decarbonisation roadmaps.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the development and delivery of key packaging transformation projects with a focus on delivering towards ESG and Spirit of Progress 2030 Grain To Glass goals.
Manage packaging transformation projects to ensure delivery on time, to specification and within budget.
Work with internal and external stakeholders at a global level, bringing teams together to integrate new and emerging technologies into our packaging decarbonisation programmes.
Work with the brand and relevant procurement teams to build clear business proposals for packaging transformation projects, provide key inputs in annual strategy refresh.
Work with brand teams to identify opportunities to commercially leverage new, low carbon solutions.
Lead the integration of learnings from pilot packaging decarbonisation programmes into our procurement ways of working.
Support internal and external data collection to establish baselines and support development of supplier, category, market and brand-specific improvement plans.
Support the Supplier Excellence team in deploying the external supplier engagement programme for the local procurement community helping team members to understand the relevance of sustainability and their role in the establishment of the critical suppliers’ external roadmaps.
Work with the Supplier Excellence and Packaging Category teams to develop and lead the roll out of priority projects at a supplier level to deliver scope 3 and ESG reductions. Taking Strategy into Action and Deployment.
Skills, Experience & Capabilities Required
Significant project management experience within a packaging environment, with a preference towards delivering projects focused on primary packaging such as glass, cans and closures, but not essential
Strong analytical, verbal, written and presentation skills; strong interpersonal skills
Experience of packaging manufacturing processes or other similar industry processes
Proven experience in delivering cross functional and pioneering projects at pace
Be able to engage with, motivate, and manage multiple stakeholders in order to deliver the end result
Ability to prioritise multiple projects in tandem and within challenging time lines
Proven expertise in integrating sustainability into the business with integrity
Be a self-starter with high levels of motivation to work across a matrix organisation
Passionate about sustainability and creating value through value chain collaboration
