Job Description

We have an opportunity across the UK for a graduate to work within our Buildings and Places team, to help develop and deliver health & safety solutions to a range of clients in the UK and around the world. The roles can be based in any of our UK offices within our Health and Safety Consulting Team.

AECOM provides health & safety services to a variety of clients in both the public and private sector, and to organisations in both construction and non-construction industries including:

  • Rail

  • Aviation

  • Highways

  • Water

  • Power

  • Defence

  • Pharmaceutical

  • Real Estate

  • Logistics

The Health & Safety Graduate will utilise and adapt their technical and soft skills to our established Health and Safety Consulting approach.

Job Responsibilities

Providing Health & Safety Consultancy Services as directed including general and specific H&S and construction advice including:

  • Providing advice and assistance to clients, designers and contractors in relation to their duties under the CDM Regulations

  • Providing advice and challenge to design teams to ensure safety in design is applied throughout design stage

  • Carry out workplace inspections & audits

  • Carrying cut construction site health & safety audits

  • Reviewing and advising on risk assessment and method statements

  • Providing advice and assistance to principal contracting organisations

  • Undertaking the role of principal designer on projects where AECOM are leading design

  • Undertaking pro-active and reactive audits and reviews

  • Providing point of contact for client(s) with regard to health and safety matters

  • Facilitating workshops and training sessions

  • Ensuring AECOM QA and Health and Safety responsibilities are discharged 

  • Producing comprehensive written reports, notes of meetings, presentations

  • Leading by example in application of AECOM’s Safeguarding value and Safety for Life behaviours

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (min 2.2 or equivalent) in a health & safety, construction or design discipline.

  • NEBOSH General Certificate (desirable)

Skills and Experience:

  • Ability to demonstrate logical reasoning and analytical thinking

  • Effective decision making with strong verbal and written communication

  • Strong organisational, problem solving and time management skills

  • Able to produce auditable outputs with clear record of error checking and demonstration of validity in results

  • Ability to assimilate, analyse and clearly communicate information

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability and confidence to work with a wide range of Clients and Consultants

  • Able to work effectively within a team environment and meet or exceed client expectations 

  • Adaptable and can modify the approach to work to suit the needs of the client or project 

  • Able to negotiate with and influence third parties

  • Full UK driving licence
