In joining the Optum Advisory Advanced Solutions Consulting team: you’ll be part of a team that is a leader in developing novel, ML-powered underwriting tools, with a proven track record of supporting health plans across the country make more informed underwriting decisions. Our consulting team has continued to expand capabilities and our consulting presence by identifying, developing, and executing on new and exciting business opportunities.

As an Actuarial Analyst, you will be empowered, supported, and encouraged to use your actuarial expertise as you perform financial analysis and build models that improve health plan competitiveness.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • This role will perform a mix of routine and ad-hoc actuarial activities in support of our team’s underwriting tools. Example of recent business problems include:

  • Improving monitoring of our tools’ performances by automating data collection and reporting

  • Designing analyses and interpreting results to answer client queries

  • Developing new tools and processes to enhance our teams’ analytic capabilities

  • Collaborate effectively with our broader product team to complete projects on-time and with good quality

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience programming with R (preferred) or Python

  • 2+ years of experience working in a collaborative team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of at least 1 actuarial exam

  • 1+ years experience with programming in SQL

  • Experience working within the health care industry

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
