Kelly Services Quality Control Supervisor in Eau Claire, Wisconsin

Kelly Science & Clinical is seeking a Quality Control Supervisor near Eau Claire, WI.

Shift: Monday - Friday 8am-5pm

Compensation: $74,000-85,000/year DOE

Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Quality Control Laboratory Supervisor to plan, coordinate, and execute quality control activities, ensuring the continued function and high performance of our laboratory. This role is pivotal in maintaining effective communication with key stakeholders to prioritize team efforts and ensure the proficiency and optimal operation of the factory laboratory, delivering the highest standards in analytical services.

The position is responsible for ensuring Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs) and regulatory compliance, including standard operating procedures, instrument validation, calibration, change control, and the development of technical expertise in laboratory systems. You will work autonomously under the supervision of the Senior Quality Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

People and Leadership:

  • Provide leadership and development to maintain a team of competent professionals in the laboratory and online satellite laboratories.

  • Hire, coach, evaluate, and manage laboratory employees in the Quality Control Laboratory.

  • Communicate routinely with Factory Operations, internal support functions, and external contractors to facilitate laboratory operations planning.

Laboratory Methods and Practices:

  • Ensure the effective, compliant, and cost-efficient functioning of laboratory operations, including satellite labs.

  • Validate and establish new methods, ensuring compliance with FDA requirements.

  • Coordinate the completion of qualification, validation, and verification protocols.

  • Select and monitor analyses performed by subcontracted laboratories.

  • Support the factory in implementing method updates and establishing monitoring plans.

  • Ensure accurate, high-quality analysis through validated methods and routine performance testing.

  • Conduct investigations and close gaps from audit findings and laboratory deviations.

  • Manage equipment/instrumentation acquisition, qualification, and maintenance.

Quality Systems Management:

  • Implement and regularly update the laboratory quality system in compliance with regulatory and ISO standards.

  • Manage the Shelf Life, Stability, and Finished Product compliance monitoring programs.

  • Provide expert support for validation activities related to physio-chemical and microbiological analyses.

Quality Guardianship:

  • Ensure unit readiness for internal and external audits.

  • Manage follow-up actions on proficiency tests and inter-laboratory comparisons.

  • Perform root cause analysis and apply corrective actions for unacceptable results.

  • Oversee the periodic maintenance and calibration of analytical instrumentation.

  • Audit and report results for chemical, nutritional, microbiological, commercial sterility, nutrient stability, and raw/packaging material inspections.

Quality by Design:

  • Support industrialization and project launch steps from an analytical perspective.

Laboratory Safety:

  • Ensure a safe working environment and adherence to Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs), Laboratory Safety Standards, and Biosafety/Biosecurity Protocols.

Experience & Qualifications:

Education:

  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree (preferred in Microbiology, Chemistry, or Food Science).

  • Preferred: Master’s Degree (M.S. or MBA).

Experience:

  • Required: Minimum 3 years in a quality supervision role in a manufacturing environment.

  • Required: Minimum 3 years of Quality Control experience.

  • Preferred: Experience in the Infant Formula or Pharmaceutical industries.

Skills:

  • Demonstrated leadership and development skills.

  • Strong organizational strategy skills with the ability to work under pressure.

  • Service-oriented attitude with a demonstrated ability to lead and coach others.

  • Detail-oriented with strong lab analytical skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required; SAP experience is preferred.

  • Expertise in microbiological, chemical, and nutritional analyses, in-line testing, and inspection.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make quick, accurate decisions.

  • Familiarity with SPC/match/statistical inference.

  • Ability to work flexible hours.
