Responsibilities

The Mayo Clinic Health System Eau Claire General Surgery/Trauma Department is hiring for a Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner. The current practice consists of 12 General Surgeons, including trauma, bariatric, and colorectal surgeons as well as 7 NP/PA’s. Due to a relocation, the department is looking to replace 1 NP/PA to work primarily with 2 surgeons in the elective surgical practice.

Primary job responsibilities would include: patient evaluations, such as, consultations and post-surgical care; functioning as first assist in the operating room; wound management of general surgery patients. Other job duties include: ordering, conducting and interpreting diagnostic tests, formulating a diagnostic impression, developing and implementing a treatment plan, monitoring the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions, and prescription of pharmacological agents and non-pharmacological therapies. The role would days in both the OR and clinic throughout the week.

Qualifications

Nurse Practitioner: Masters-prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Current WI RN and APRN license and certification as an APNP.

Physician Assistant: Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the WI State Board of Medical Practice.

Current ACLS & BLS certifications.

Additional Qualifications:

Excellent verbal, written, and oral communication skills. * Demonstrated leadership ability. * Flexibility to adjust schedule to meet patient and staff needs. * Ability to manage time and stress effectively and adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting. *Previous first assist experience preferred.
