DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Health Care Nurse Surveyor, you will conduct surveys, which may include survey types such as complaints, incidents, full/annual health surveys, abuse investigations, in-office or on-site revisit surveys, civil rights surveys, special Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) surveys, and occupancy surveys using federal and state regulations for initial licensure, re-licensure, civil rights, and Medicare/Medicaid certification to determine compliance.  You will review reports of incidents as assigned and communicate with providers for follow-up and additional information as needed. This professional compiles reports of survey findings using Principles of Documentation in state or federal systems and reviews plans of correction for necessary components, approves or disapproves, and plans and conducts revisit/follow-up activities with providers as needed.  You will also prepare a statement of deficiencies for review by the Health Care Surveyor Supervisor or designee.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. This position requires some irregular work hours.  Frequent travel within Berks, Lehigh, Northampton, Bucks, Montgomery, Schuylkill, and Lebanon counties is a requirement of this position. Employee will be required to carry a cell phone and respond to complaints during off-hours.  Statewide travel, overnight travel, and flexible work hours are required in order to accommodate state and federal mandates.  The employee in this position may be assigned to function independently, with a partner, as a member of a team, or as the designated team coordinator during on site surveys. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, on the days you are not out surveying.  Surveyors spend 3 to 4 days on average in the field each week.  In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.  If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Easton. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Special Requirements: All positions require successful completion of the relevant provider-specific federally mandated Surveyor Minimum Qualifications training and Test (SMQT) provided by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services or an equivalent certifying body for the discipline, within one year of hire. All positions require active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania. All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing. All positions require possession of an active motor vehicle license.
