Job Opportunity: 2nd Shift Maintenance Technician in East Windsor, CT

Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM

Pay Rate: $24-25 per hour, plus 7% shift differential

Summary

The Maintenance Technician will ensure the continuous operation of the facility through essential repairs and equipment improvements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain and Repair: Oversee and repair all mechanical equipment in the facility.

  • Inspect and Overhaul: Conduct inspections, repairs, and overhauls on mechanical drives, motors, pneumatic and hydraulic components, motor control center devices, and conveyor systems.

  • Machine Shop Duties: Perform basic machine shop tasks such as grinding, drilling, metal fabrication, welding, and machining.

  • Equipment Installation and Modification: Handle installation, maintenance, and modifications on equipment and control systems.

  • Troubleshooting: Use volt-ohm-amp meters for troubleshooting and repairing motor control centers, electro-mechanical drives, and sub-electrical panels.

  • On-Call Duties: Be available for rotating on-call duty during weekends to address emergencies.

  • Additional Tasks: Perform other duties as assigned or directed.

Skills

  • Proficient in using tools, machines, and testing instruments for repairing and overhauling plant equipment.

  • Knowledgeable in electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic/vacuum systems, and components.

  • Understanding of safety precautions and inspection techniques in a food-manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical sketches, manuals, and schematics.

  • Creative problem-solving skills and initiative for continuous improvement.

  • Willingness to further develop skills through education and training.

  • Basic understanding of electrical maintenance with PLC and repair.

  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma required.

  • 1-2 years of experience in industrial equipment maintenance, preferably in a steel processing environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Capable of walking, standing, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, lifting, and performing repetitive motions.

  • Ability to work around metal powders and nickels.

  • Proficiency in wearing a respirator while performing job duties.

  • Experience operating heavy equipment (e.g., forklift, scissor lift, front-end loader, payloader).

  • Ability to ascend and descend steep stairs and ladders.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently.

  • Willingness to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances.

  • Must use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed boots, and hearing protection.

Work Environment

  • The position is located in a production area with moderate noise levels. The production area is not climate controlled.

Pay Details: $24.00 to $25.00 per hour
