WHAT WILL I BE DOING? CHI is looking for full-time and part-time Resident Support Specialists (RSS) for our Suffolk and Nassau programs. You will ensure the safety and security of all clients, visitors, staff and property. This is accomplished by performing the following functions: Conduct site inspections and review video cameras and monitors consistently. Enforce CHI, site and DSS policies, regulations and rules with residents. Provide limited crisis intervention to residents on an as-needed basis. Accurately document throughout shift, i.e. turn-over, census, logs, incident reports, case notes, etc.
Review rules and regulations with new arrivals and perform bag searches upon intake. Submit reports accurately and in a timely manner. Maintain logs, office and site in an orderly fashion. Support afterschool/evening activities as needed. Provide oversight of outdoor and recreational events.
Inform Building Superintendent of work sites physical condition (i.e. dangerous conditions, possible repair needs, supply needs, etc.). Prep vacant units for new placements.
Facilitate evacuation procedures ( i.e. fire drills) as directed by Program Manager WHAT DO I NEED? Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Experience: 1-2 years of experience working in related field preferred. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in English required. Bi-lingual (Spanish) is a plus. Reasoning Ability: Ability to prioritize, make appropriate decisions and judgment calls, and perform proper notifications.
