Position Summary

The Program Manager will coordinate Michigan State University’s USAID-funded efforts to increase capacity of higher education institutions (HEI) in Malawi to deliver market-relevant programs; increase matriculation and completion rates, especially for vulnerable populations; and increase uptake-ready innovations. As a member of the leadership team, the PM will provide regular communication, technical, and administrative support to the leadership team and in-country staff.

The Program Manager (PM) will work for Michigan State University’s (MSU) USAID-funded Transforming Higher Education Systems project in Malawi. The Project began in 2022, and is a 5-year, $17 million collaboration between MSU, World Learning, and multiple Malawian higher education partners.

The PM will provide regular communication, technical, and administrative support to the Project leadership team and in-country staff. This may include: financial and operational compliance guidance; tracking and supporting coordination of Project activities and tasks; backstopping Operations team and Communications team tasks; tasks; preparation and submission of USAID-required administrative and activity reports; support to COP and DCOP on quarterly planning; reviewing monthly budget projections; and other duties as assigned. The PM will join the Co-Principal Investigators, the Chief of Party (COP), and the Deputy COP on the leadership team.

Required Degree

Masters

Minimum Requirements

Masters degree and at least 3 years' work experience in project management or similar managerial position.

Desired Qualifications

-Experience with USAID

-5 years work experience in project management or similar managerial position

-Experience with administrative oversight that includes the preparation of work plans, reports, budgets, etc.

-Experience working in international development and/or overseas.

-Experience working in higher education in Eastern Africa.
