Position Summary

Financial Management - 30%:

  • Act as fiscal officer for all Executive Development Programs and Center for Railway Research and Education accounts (cash, research, and endowment funds), oversee internal & external financial accounts & controls.
  • Continue to refine best practices for tracking AR, income & expenses based off standards and MSU policies.
  • Create and maintain reports with critical information and provide leadership to guide departmental and program expenses, forecasting & planning.

Office Operations Management - 25%:

  • Leadership on all aspects of EDP's unique registration platform (DestinyOne), create training materials for both internal staff & external users.
  • Collaborate with both College and University colleagues to formulate best practices, write and proofread policies, test software, and participate in focus groups for various new systems.
  • Support flawless planning, preparation and execution of non-credit educational programs to key MSU and Broad College professional executive clients.

Supervise and Coordinate Staff - 20%:

  • Supervise APA and CT support staff positions.
  • Top-level supervisor for student workers.
  • Provide support for 4 program directors (academic specialists).

Human Resources Management and Culture Initiatives - 20%:

  • Strategic leadership of all HR aspects for EDP support & student staff, including hiring, workplace environment, climate, team building, professional growth & development, and Performance Development Planning.
  • Process appointment and hiring items for department academic specialists.
  • Cultivate EDP office culture and team building by spearheading frequent and diverse activities within the team, collaborative work initiatives and unit social events.

Administrative and Unit Support for the Assistant Dean - 5%:

  • Includes calendaring assistance, strategic planning, prioritization, scheduling, and other special initiatives as needed.
Minimum Requirements

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in a business-related field or in a field which corresponds to the particular department of employment; five to eight years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in office procedures and administration, or in performing responsibilities related to the operational activities of the employing unit; experience in a supervisory role; experience with word processing, database, spreadsheet, presentation software and/or desktop publishing, web page software; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
