Position Summary

We seek to recruit a highly motivated and skilled postdoctoral researcher with training in molecular biology, plant genetics, or cell biology to develop and apply emerging single cell and spatial omics technologies to address fundamental problems in plant resilience research and coordinate an emerging community around single cell approaches in plant biology called the Plant Cell Atlas (PCA).

The postdoc will be co-advised by Drs. Seung Yon (Sue) Rhee and Bob VanBuren at thePlant Resilience Institute (https://plantresilience.msu.edu/) (PRI) of Michigan State University. The postdoc will have an opportunity to explore cutting-edge technologies in single-cell and spatial omics on problems of their interest and play a leadership role in the emerging PCA community. Candidates with a particular interest in addressing single-cell and spatial omics challenges related to abiotic stress responses and plant resilience are especially encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading research independently, preparing publications, and presenting research in scientific meetings.

  • Applying latest and emerging single-cell and spatial omics technologies to plant resilience research.

  • Working closely with collaborators and members of the Rhee and VanBuren labs as well as the rest of PRI labs.

  • Coordinating the PCA committees, planning PCA events, and promoting PCA via its online channels.

Required Degree

Doctorate -molecular biology, biochemistry, related

Minimum Requirements

PhD in any of the following areas: molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, genetics, plant biology, and bioengineering, related field

  • A track record of research productivity and independence.

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with various stakeholders and collaborators.

  • Ability to organize and pay close attention to detail.
