Position Summary

The research associate (postdoctoral fellow) will be an integral member of our research team working on two NIH-funded research projects. One of these projects is focused on developing new physiological measurements of vocal fold vibration and establishing linkage with perceptual measurement of voice quality in connected speech. The other project is investigating the influence of developmental physical factors on children's ability to acquire a therapeutic voicing pattern, and on the tissue's biological response to behavioral therapy. The candidate will contribute to all stages of these projects, including the conception and design of experiments, data analysis and interpretation of results. The candidate will work with senior lab members to mentor and supervise junior researchers and will learn different analytic approaches used in the lab. Finally, the candidate will be involved preparing written/oral presentations for journal publications and conferences and developing their independent line of research. This position will be appointed on a one-to-two-year basis.

Required Degree

Doctorate -Engineering area related to voice science

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in an engineering area related to voice science. Specific experience and proficiency in image and signal processing with demonstrated ability to implement machine learning methods is required. The applicant must also show evidence of scholarly productivity in the form of journal articles and conference presentations.

Desired Qualifications

Prior experience in the analysis of laryngeal imaging and modeling of voice emissions is desirable.
