Football Athletic Equipment Coordinator
Position Summary
In this position, you will:
Receive and issue athletic apparel and supplies.
Determine equipment needs and specifications, make budget recommendations, research products, meet with manufacturer representatives and vendors, and initiate paperwork to purchase athletic equipment to maintain adequate inventory levels.
Monitor the correct equipment fitting and protection of athletes to prevent injury and protect the University from liability.
Keep abreast of current NCAA rules and regulations regarding equipment and enforces such.
Maintain computerized inventory system, including conducting seasonal and yearly inventories.
Oversee the ordering/issuance.
Organize equipment identification and storage.
Coordinate proper laundering, dry cleaning, reconditioning and clothing repairs.
Supervise the daily activity of student employees and student managers.
Assist with all aspects of programs on-field practices.
Organize all locker room needs for both MSU student athletes and visiting team athletes.
Pack, load, unload and set up equipment and supplies for team trips.
Make presentations on equipment to organizations.
Performs other related duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Physical Education, Athletic Administration or related field with relevant coursework in business; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in equipment management, purchasing and fitting at a Division I school; knowledge and experience working with computers and software applications; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The job also requires certification by the Athletic Equipment Managers' Association or completion of certification within two years of hire.
Desired Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree and have a minimum of 2 years of experience (3 years preferred) at the collegiate level.
Valid driver’s license is required.
Proficient with Microsoft Office and Front Rush.
Experience working in higher education and/or a sports related field ideal.
