The Senior Paralegal, Marketing, Wellbeing and ESG works under the direction of attorneys in the legal department in a capacity that involves the performance of substantive legal work pertaining to advertising, marketing, regulatory compliance, and contract-related issues that usually requires sufficient knowledge of legal concepts. The Senior Paralegal will work under the guidance of Mondelēz International’s legal counsel(s) to deliver our legal strategy, activities, and service delivery model in this senior paralegal role, with a focus that includes wellbeing, sustainability matters and issues (advertising, substantiation, disclosure, regulatory landscape monitoring and compliance).

You will provide strategic support to the North America business unit and cross-functional business stakeholders and work closely with them to ensure legal concepts and implications are understood and related legal and operational risks are assessed and managed. You will operate systems and technologies relevant to the area of support, prepare documents, gather information, and interact with business partners to deliver objectives and provide expertise and experience.

Primary responsibilities for the Senior Paralegal, Marketing, Wellbeing and ESG include the following:

  • This role will work on North American Sustainability efforts, including advising on claim substantiation and upcoming legal changes in the regulatory environment. You will have or develop subject matter expertise on the growing number of federal, state, and local legal requirements in the US business unit related to ESG, including the FTC’s Green Guides and various state climate rules (e.g., California) & EPR (recycling) requirements.

  • Assist in keeping up to date on the latest and emerging legal requirements. The person may be asked to help maintain a chart of regulatory landscape changes and to assist in interfacing with relevant departments. Providing support for ESG and wellbeing communications (internal/external), disclosures and claims in the US Business unit.Under the direction of legal counsel, you will help to develop and deliver on training related to marketing, wellbeing and sustainability matters. This role may be involved in activities related to emissions reporting, waste reduction, recyclability claims or other substantive areas. Review advertising, sweepstakes, packaging, website, digital and social media, PR, promotional, and other consumer facing materials for legal compliance.

  • Develop draft contracts under attorney supervision including services, strategic partnership, confidentiality, manufacturing, joint promotion, sales, sponsorship, agency, licensing, research, media integration and talent agreements.

  • Work with outside counsel on reviewing and negotiating agreements, serve as the liaison between outside counsel and internal business clients on contract matters.

  • Consult with internal Mondelez Global LLC business clients on advertising, litigation, regulatory, promotion, contract and general corporate business legal issues.

  • Pre-review customer sales materials and decks; provide feedback to sales clients on claims support issues relating to decks; assist in finalizing sales materials.

  • Assist as directed in filing various permits, disclosures and other regulatory materials. Under supervision from team attorneys, provide initial drafts of correspondence in response to regulatory and governmental inquiries, network or other media inquiries, any other necessary legal documents as they arise.

  • Conduct legal research on discrete issues.

  • Assist in prompt communication and coordination of legal matters within North America, and help ensure timely, accurate and constructive legal advice and support to our business partners.

  • Participate in department initiatives and projects, as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 8+ years of paralegal experience

  • Ability to draft memos summarizing facts and review contracts. This role will require a person who understands standard contract terms and can effectively communicate to business units the meaning of clauses and how redlines affect the contract.

  • Interface with employees from around the company and direct them to correct Legal/Procurement (or other) resource.

  • Utilize contract management software and other program software, as required.
