WestRock Company Prepress Technician in East Flat Rock, North Carolina
GENERAL PURPOSE: Preflight and prepare electronic files for high resolution output including: assembly, color correcting, retouching, color separation and trapping using programs such as Esko ArtPro+. Inspect outgoing contract proofs to ensure they meet department quality guidelines before releasing. Maintain equipment used in Prepress Department. Use knowledge of printing processes to carry out procedures of jobs based on quick turnaround.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Ensures final product leaving department meets quality standards prior to being released to other departments (and/or) customer
Preflights / prepares electronic files for output
Analyzes customer files for fonts, images, integrity, and printability
Refines, traps and inspects files
Able to impose / step files in layout
Outputs and inspects proofs for accuracy and quality
Ensure high quality output for next department
Checks equipment for calibration
Maintains equipment as needed
Loads raw materials into output devices
Performs other job duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have high school diploma or G.E.D.
Minimum of 5 years of prepress production experience preferred
Must demonstrate excellent communication skills, including the demonstration of tact, sensitivity, and professionalism
Must have knowledge of printing terminology and practices
Must be able to maintain good attendance
Must have ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Must have ability to perform basic arithmetic including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
Must have intermediate computer skills (email, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, etc.)
Must have strong skills in Adobe Creative Cloud
Must have knowledge in Automation Engine or equivalent workflow
Must have strong color correcting skills
Must have strong quality inspection skills
Must be detail oriented
Must be able to work well with others in a team environment
Must pass color vision test
Must be willing to work overtime as needed for production goals
Must be able to perform all essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation
