Job Title: Data Center Technician Location: Eagan, MN 55123 Duration: 6 Months (Possible extension) Hours: This will be a 3rd shift and one will be 2nd shift: 2nd shift Monday - Friday Morning 2:00pm - 12:30am 3rd shift Monday night-Friday morning hours are 9:00pm until 7:30am Pre-Screening Questions: Describe your interest level in technology and interest in learning new technology. Level of Education: H.S Diploma Years of Experience needed: 1 year of experience in computer science, Management Information Systems, business management or a related field If candidate is coming out of college and does not have experience but has a degree the HM would still consider them without 1 year of professional experience Resource's typical working day: They will be part of a team that does work in the data center. They could be installing or removing servers, Replacing parts on servers or monitoring the Queue. Perform hardware installations (rack / stack) and cable installations (routing, terminating, structured cabling), including troubleshooting and testing. Also, perform hardware decommissions and cable removal. Coordinate DCS IT asset redundant power requirements with appropriate facilities staff to ensure proper load balance and fail-over capacity to avoid cascading failures. Prepare and coordinate incoming/outgoing shipments. Compare packing lists with purchase details to ensure accurate make, model, and quantities are received and processed. Perform remote hands support (e.g. power cycles, physical environment, and cabling inspections, swap out failed components, hardware upgrades, testing of copper and fiber cables, handling storage media, and enter troubleshooting commands). Grant site access to vendors and/or escort 3rd parties requiring Data Center access for approved activities, and ensure their compliance with site standards. Carry out daily housekeeping checks of the data halls, and record findings. Support Service Management and related processes (e.g., Service Request, Incident, Change) by creating, updating, approving, and closing associated assigned tickets.
