Amgen Manager External Supply in Dún Laoghaire, Ireland

Amgen's mission is to serve patients and the Supplier Engagement Manager is critical to fulfilling this mission. Amgen's External supply organization is responsible for establishing and maintaining effective relations with external partners. Amgen relies on external partners for the supply of materials essential to manufacturing operations. In fulfilling its mission to serve patients, Amgen strives to improve patient experiences to include provision of innovative drug delivery systems. This role involves engaging with suppliers for the supply of state of the art drug delivery devices.

In this role the supplier engagement manager needs to demonstrate the following capabilities

  • Establishing and maintaining effective, mutually beneficial partnerships

  • Working in a cross functional team environment

  • Maintaining supplier KPI's

  • Facilitation of supplier business reviews within a tiered engagement process

  • Effective and timely communications at various levels of the Amgen organization and with external parties

  • Gaining an understanding of device design and manufacturing processes

  • Operational support

  • Project planning and tracking

  • Understanding and implementation of Continuous Improvement / Lean Methodologies to include Lean Six Sigma

  • Support the draft, issue and collation of RFP’s

  • Support completion of due diligence activities at suppliers and provide advice on supplier selection decisions

  • Support activities in qualification and set up of new suppliers and new materials

  • Ownership of quality records to include SICAR's / EN's / Change Controls

  • Document management to include ownership, review and approval

  • Understanding of financial processes and development and maintenance of project and operational budgets

This role may require some business travel to supplier locations in support of objectives.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science or Engineering Related Field & 8 years of Operations experience or

  • Doctorate / Master’s degree & 4 years of Operations experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in the biotechnology/ pharmaceutical industry including leadership roles

  • Advanced degree in Science or Engineering and/or MBA.

  • Additional diverse assignments in Operations support (Planning, Compliance, Engineering, etc.)

  • 3+ years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership.

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources.

  • Specific experience with raw materials, primary container, device and/or combination product development, manufacturing, and supply chain.

  • Proficient with device and/or pharmaceutical product commercialization and life cycle

  • Demonstrated experience leading and motivating diverse, cross-functional teams.

  • Knowledge of/experience with Supplier Relationship Management.
