Two years verifiable motor coach driving experience. Valid North Carolina class A or class B drivers license with passenger & airbrake endorsements. Current DOT medical card. Ability to read, write, and communicate in English, read maps, and maintain expense and mileage records. Complete vehicle pre-trip and post-trip inspection reports. Complete incident reports when necessary. Load and unload luggage and assist with passenger boarding. Maintain professional manner, appearance and positive attitude possessing good organizational skills and time management skills.

Position Overview

Primary Purpose of Position

As a driver at North Carolina Central University (NCCU) Transportation & Parking, you will be driving multiple routes based on student demand across the campus. Drivers will be required to drive over the road buses for various events and activities. Bus drivers will gain an understanding of the entire campus to answer student, faculty & staff questions. It is also the responsibility of the driver to conduct vehicle inspections and ensure the safety of our students, faculty & staff, promote positive passenger relations by acting in considerate, courteous manner. Attend training and have the ability to satisfactorily complete training courses. Drivers will use various equipment requiring a moderate degree of dexterity and assist customers regularly with mobility impairments including but not limited to pushing wheelchairs, lifting light or heavy objects.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit

The Division of Student Affairs fosters student growth and development. The Division of Student Affairs is responsible for many of the outside-the-classroom/off-campus aspects of student life at NCCU, including Residential Life, Student Health Services, Counseling Services, Student Conduct and Community Standards, Student Accessibility Services, Career Services, Spiritual Dialogue and Development, Campus Recreation and Wellness, Student Engagement and Leadership, Student Union, New Student and Family Programs, Diversity and Inclusion, the Centennial Scholars, the Annie Day Scholars Program, the Women’s Center, the Men’s Achievement Center, Student Life Assessment, Transportation, Student Affairs Advancement, Marketing and Communications, and Technology.
