The SE Academy management team is responsible for the execution and day-to-day management of the Nutanix Systems Engineering Academy within their designated theater, ensuring early-career Systems Engineers (SEs) develop essential skills through a structured blend of technical enablement, on-the-job training (OJT), mentorship and hands-on customer interactions. As an Academy SE Manager, you’ll oversee the hiring, development, engagement and promotion of Associate Systems Engineers who are learning the role of Nutanix Presales Systems Engineer through intensive learning, SE mentoring and shadowing, and helping customers and prospects with product knowledge and solution design. You’ll play an integral role in partnering with the Field & Inside SE Managers to ensure Associates are progressing toward full SE placement.

Your Role

  • Work with Talent Acquisition to help recruit and hire new Associates into semi-annual cohorts

  • Provide active coaching and talent development of Associates to enable each team member to develop SE skills & competencies

  • Facilitate hands-on learning through customer discovery, technical whiteboarding and live demonstrations

  • Support Associates in drafting proposals, preparing complex product specifications, designing custom solutions, and solving complex problems

  • Provide cross-functional escalation in support of customer/partner satisfaction

  • Establish and maintain a line of communication across the sales & SE organization to ensure collaboration

  • Be able to support technical sales cycle as a player/coach as needed

  • Track and manage participant progress through structured assessments, performance reviews, and competency milestones

  • Hold regular career conversations and facilitate promotion to Field / Inside SE roles

What You’ll Bring

  • At least 1 year of direct management experience, team leadership, or mentoring in a technical environment.

  • 3-5+ years in a customer-facing technical role (e.g., Presales, Customer Success, Professional Services, or related).

  • Bachelor’s Degree, and working knowledge of Information Technology, or equivalent experience

  • Demonstrated leadership skills in hiring, recruiting and developing early in career talent

  • Excellent people management skills; high empathy and consideration for team morale and member’s career progression

  • Technical experience with virtualization technologies, data center consolidation, and/or server technologies will prepare you for our environment

  • Knowledge of Nutanix technologies & go-to-market a plus

  • Ability to assimilate new technologies and have proven customer-facing skills in business-to-business sales

  • Team player with a zealous drive

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build trust and rapport with cross-functional partners

  • A structured thinker with excellent presentation and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects, determine project urgency, and execute detailed action plans

  • Highest level of personal and professional ethics and integrity.

  • Collaborative and love belonging to a high-achieving sales team.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $ 165,200 and USD $ 247,800 per year.

However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

This role operates in a hybrid capacity, blending the benefits of remote work with the advantages of in-person collaboration. For most roles, that will mean coming into an office a minimum of 2 - 3 days per week, however certain roles and/or teams may require more frequent in-office presence. Additional team-specific guidance and norms will be provided by your manager.
