Description
SummaryResponsible for accurate and timely recording, analysis, and reporting of direct and indirect project, manufacturing, and engineering costs. Handles complex issues and problems and refers with minimal input from higher-level staff.
Minimum Qualifications• Bachelors’ Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or relevant experience for a minimum of 4- 5 years.• Sound analytical skills and understanding of accounting principles.• Critical thinking skills and ability to problem solve• Ability to build relationships with key stakeholders and meet internal customer needs• Computer Literate – Strong Excel skills and the ability to use TEAMS, Outlook, Word, and Power BI; ERP experience required.• Maintain accuracy and attention to detail under time pressure and with competing priorities• General ledger accounting experience in a complex project-based environment and/or manufacturing cost accounting experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities• Knowledge and application of general accounting theory.• Strong in Excel and able to become proficient in IFS.• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.• Sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines during the month-end process
Supervisory ResponsibilitiesSupervises the Administrative Assistant, including training, prioritization of tasks, and performance management.
Essential Functions• Month-end closing of the General Ledger including balance sheet reconciliations and income statement account review for trends, missing costs, and coding issues and performing routine and non-routine journal entries, as needed• Generating monthly departmental financial reports providing analysis of actuals versus budget, forecast, and/or prior year along with trends and presenting to Departmental Managers, Directors, and General Managers• Budgeting and forecasting costs for direct and indirect cost departments• Analyzing project and program costs on an ad-hoc basis.• Understanding manufacturing flow and impact on cost detail accumulation for shop order product costing and indirect labor reporting, underlying labor operations and BOMS, as well as posting controls mapping and subsequent impact of subledger to general ledger; serve as accounting resource for resolving shop order costing and reporting issues• Collaborating with manufacturing and engineering teams on cost drivers and labor utilization; maintain labor and overhead costing rates• Preparing support for audit queries in product costing of inventory selections. Assist in onsite inventory audits, as needed.• Leading or participating in cross functional teams, establishing procedures for new business processes and/or controls and improvement in existing business processes and controls, providing financial viewpoint and impact.• Supervising Administrative Assistant in time keeping functions and administrative support to accomplish above functions; Ensuring backup Administrative Assistant remains abreast of time keeping functions to adequately backfill role during primary Administrative Assistant absence. Coordinating split schedule with Project Cost Control Manager to keep Administrative Assistant fully utilized.• Other general accounting tasks and financial analysis, as required. Essential functions may evolve over time based on organizational needs.

Work EnvironmentPosition involves primarily working in an office environment at a desk or at a remote home office. Position visits manufacturing facilities where safety protocols must be followed and occasionally visits uncovered and non-temperature-controlled inventory storage locations. Working extended hours during peak periods.
