Here’s the Gist: 

Wolfspeed’s Materials business is seeking a Senior Industrial Engineer for our growing Industrial Engineering Team.  This team is responsible for capacity planning across the Materials business, and provides supplemental support for establishing factory layouts and equipment installation schedules, for our rapidly growing Materials Factory footprint. 

The Day-to-Day: 

  • Own the development and sustaining of critical capacity models, by conducting complex data analyses and building a solid process understanding to construct accurate equipment forecasts to enable the Materials business to achieve strategic and tactical production targets.  

  • Support development of next generation capacity modeling capability by building and deploying new data analysis methodologies using advanced data analytics techniques.

  • Effectively partner with cross-functional teams of engineers, supply chain planners, project managers, operations personnel, systems engineers and senior leadership to meet critical business objectives.

  • Utilize advanced lean manufacturing methods to analyze material flows, production costs, process flows and production requirements to determine the most efficient utilization of personnel and equipment. 

  • Support of 24/7 manufacturing to proactively identify production bottlenecks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure sufficient capacity is available to hit throughput targets. Investigate production issues by conducting time studies and utilizing data analysis to provide guidance and recommendations to the assigned module team.

  

This Job is Right for You if You Have (Minimum Requirements): 

  • BS degree from a four-year college/university in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical / Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Research, Business Analytics, Data Science, or a closely related technical field.

  • At least 3 years of prior work experience. Preference for experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment, and semiconductor industry experience is ideal. 

  • Strong team leadership and project management skills.

  • High proficiency with Excel and basic understanding of SQL.

  • Ability to independently navigate through ambiguity to find pragmatic solutions to technical problems and project deliverables.

  • Energetic can-do attitude with a curiosity to understand the details and drive improvements of the Wolfspeed manufacturing & business processes.

  • Strong organizational and team building skills and capability to effectively communicate cross-functionally to different audiences.

  • Enjoy driving continuous improvements in a fast-paced & dynamic environment

Highly preferred skills and certifications:

  • MS degree from an accredited university in in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical / Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Research, Business Analytics, Data Science, or a closely related technical field.

  • 4 to 10+ years of prior technical work experience.

  • 3 to 5+ years of prior work experience in SQL data mining, mapping, and database management.

  • Expertise with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.

  • Highly proficient with databases and data analysis tools (SQL, Oracle, Excel, VBA, JMP, etc.).

  • Experience with data process: data modeling, ETL development, data warehousing and data pipeline.

  • Experience with forecasting and simulation in a manufacturing setting.

  • Ability to work independently and in teams on multiple, simultaneous projects.

  • Excellent knowledge in factory physics and operations research.

  • 2+ years of semiconductor manufacturing experience.

  • Formal leadership experience.

  • Project Management certification.
