IQVIA Senior Counsel in Durham, North Carolina

Job Overview

Provides legal advice and counsel to IQVIA’s Digital Enablement Center of Excellence (CoE).

Essential Functions

• Provides legal support and guidance to IQVIA's healthcare digital marketing and advertising business, which delivers important medical and clinical information to healthcare professionals, consumers, and patients.

• Advises on compliance with laws and regulations (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR, state privacy laws); FTC guidelines; and industry best practices and self-regulatory codes (e.g., Network Advertising Initiative (NAI), Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB)), applicable to, among other areas, data governance, privacy, security, and consumer protection in the digital marketing and advertising space.

• Works closely with the Digital Enablement CoE team, as well as other internal stakeholders, such as data governance, privacy, compliance, risk management, and procurement, to identify and mitigate legal risks and ensure alignment with IQVIA’s policies and procedures.

• Works closely with business and product leaders, contract professionals, and other stakeholders to create and maintain applicable contract templates and guidance.

• Monitors and anticipates legal developments and trends affecting the digital marketing and advertising industry and provides proactive and practical advice and training to the business.

• Provides varied high-level legal assistance to IQVIA companies in complying with laws, meeting business objectives, protecting assets, and minimizing risks.

• Leads process improvement and collaborates with other team members on maintaining and creating templates, processes and policies.

• Helps drive integration of recent acquired companies.

• Reviews, drafts, and negotiates a broad range of commercial contracts with suppliers, customers, vendors, partners, and others, including for IQVIA's healthcare digital marketing and advertising products and services, such as data licensing, advisory and consulting, software-as-a-service, and professional service agreements. Ensures contracts are in compliance with organizational policies and standards.

• Provides advice with respect to the protection and commercialization of IQVIA’s software, database, information technology and other intellectual property assets.

• Provides support to the business on a range of legal topics, and consults with legal department subject matter experts and outside counsel, as needed.

• Collaborates with and facilitates decision-making among multiple internal stakeholders.

• Conducts training.

• Supervises and coordinates engagements with outside counsel.

• Manages others where requested.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (or equivalent) and an active license to practice law in applicable jurisdiction.

• Minimum of eight (8) years in-house legal department, law firm and/or other relevant legal experience.

• Understanding of the digital healthcare advertising industry preferred.

• Effective organizational, planning, project management, communication, presentation, interpersonal, pragmatic problem-solving and influence skills.

• Strong business acumen and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

• Demonstrated ability to work creatively in a fast-paced environment.

• Demonstrated sound decision-making skills.

• Skilled in using MS Office Suite: MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint.

The potential base pay range for this role, when annualized, is $152,200.00 - $282,600.00. The actual base pay offered may vary based on a number of factors including job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education, and experience; location; and/or schedule (full or part-time). Dependent on the position offered, incentive plans, bonuses, and/or other forms of compensation may be offered, in addition to a range of health and welfare and/or other benefits.
