The registered nurse (RN) will deliver direct patient care to employees for on-site emergencies, work-related injuries, assist with the required medical health surveillance examinations and episodic illnesses. Under the direction of the Employee Health Services (EHS) Director of Nursing, the RN will work alongside a medical advanced practice provider (APP) and other ancillary medical staff at Lilly’s Durham, NC manufacturing site and support Lilly employees’ medical needs.

Hours : Full-time (40 hours/week); Anticipated work schedule is between 6a-6p but subject to change pending needs of the site.

Ways you'll contribute:

  • Protect the wellbeing of the company’s employees through the provision of health surveillance examinations, wellness screenings, and episodic care.

  • Evaluate, treat, and follow up on employee work-related injuries in partnership with department nurse case manager.

  • Assist in coordination of health and wellness examinations, seminars, screenings and other health related activities including but not limited to occupational, preventive, and primary care medicine.

  • Maintains a thorough understanding of Lilly’s policies and procedures.

  • The position requires a clinician who is comfortable and competent working independently as needed, as well as fulfilling the role of the sole clinician when necessary.

Provision of professional nursing care

  • Apply best practices for on-site medical assessment, treatment, and follow-up care.

  • Support OSHA-required health surveillance and screening, and educate employees on health behaviors, self-care skills, and treatment options appropriate to their individual needs.

  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, use local resources for optimal care and referrals considering patient preferences and needs, and ensure compliance with medical regulations.

  • Respond to emergencies, provide first aid, support safety programs, and acquire awareness of occupational hazards and company resources and inform local health and safety of potential areas for loss.

  • Develop awareness of company resources for referral as needed for crisis management and other scenarios.

  • Conduct research on communicable diseases, expert resources including local and state health department referrals, infections disease specialists and other resources. Responsible for reporting infectious diseases to appropriate agencies as required by law.

  • Support the Lilly Well-Being Coordinator or Local Ambassador to promote wellness programming and to serve as a resource for employees for wellness and lifestyle prevention and/or management of chronic diseases.

  • Work with Lilly pharmacist to provide travel immunizations and flu shot clinics, as needed per site.

  • Serve as a liaison to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE), OSHA record keepers, and the department nurse case manager.

  • Maintain medical records in accordance with HIPAA and other regulations. Provide administrative support for the department (e.g. medical supply ordering, equipment calibrations).

  • Work with EHS nurse manager and director on staffing to ensure continuity of operations for the clinic. Works directly with staffing supplier on staffing needs.

  • Act as Lilly sponsor to clinical contingent worker staff.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing

or

  • Associate in Nursing from accredited School of Nursing with 5+ years of nursing experience in occupational health or emergency care role

  • Current State of NC license as a registered professional nurse.

  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position

Additional Preferred Skills:

  • CPR for Health Care Provider certification.

  • Prior experience in the corporate environment, ambulatory care, occupational medicine or emergency room nursing is preferred.

  • Prior experience using EMR is helpful.

  • Certification as an Occupational Health Nurse is preferred.

  • Spirometry and Hearing Conservation Certifications

  • ACLS certification preferred

  • Able to assess and treat according to the Nurse Practice Act.

  • Exhibit a high level of customer service and client responsiveness.

  • Proficient in outlook, word and excel.
