GE Aerospace Quality Technician – Gage Lab in Durham, North Carolina

Job Description

This role is in support of the Durham Engine Assembly calibration lab and related equipment. A successful candidate will ensure the successful maintenance of schedules for all gaged tooling and equipment for the site. Competency in metrology and acute organizational skills will be key, as well as working in a diverse, self-motivated teaming environment.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Coordinate the collection, calibration, and distribution of all calibrated tooling on site within appropriate schedules

• Perform the successful calibration of numerous gages on-site (e.g. torque wrenches, calipers, etc.)

• Maintain outsourced calibration services to mitigate production disruption introduced by turn-around times for those tools not calibrated on-site. This includes packaging, shipping, and receiving of calibrated tooling.

• Ensure the continuous compliance of the site gage lab to GE Policies and Procedures; support internal and external audit processes to verify documentation and certification for calibrations

• Ensure closure of Out-of-Tolerance reports (OOT’s), investigation, and containment coordination with the broader Tool & Gage team

• Define and control production process including tooling and equipment

• Validate design specifications and shop floor application of new product, tools, or equipment

• Supports analytical and design activities using proven technologies and vested approaches/methods

• Communicates calibrating tooling due dates and OOT’s across organization and with production teams

• Works on cross-functional projects / teams to deliver technology solutions for the business

• Support team representative for Tool & Gauge council

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Ability to read and interpret blueprint requirements and procedures; familiarity with principles and application of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)

• Ability to perform and interpret Measurement System Analyses (MSAs) and Gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility (Gage R&R) studies

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with a

minimum of 4 years of experience in Manufacturing)

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Production Process and Equipment with Tool and gauge responsibilities preferred.
