The Challenge

We're looking for 3 Electronics Technicians to join our Durham Traffic Services team.

In this role, you will:

  • Maintain and repair electrical, electronic, and traffic control systems.
  • Install traffic signal equipment by wiring/installing signal heads, wiring detectors, and installing/wiring controllers.
  • Trace out electrical wiring diagrams, locate trouble, dismantle controls, replace worn/faulty parts, reassemble, and test traffic control systems.
  • Supervise helpers.
  • Re-lamp/repair roadway light fixtures and troubleshoot/repair roadway lighting control cabinets.

What You Bring

  • General knowledge of the principles and practices applied in the safe/efficient use of tools, materials, and test equipment used in the electrical/electronic trades.
  • Ability to diagnose equipment failure sources and repair/maintain a wide variety of complex electrical equipment.
  • Knowledge of standard test equipment used to diagnose electronic components.
  • Experience reading and understanding schematic drawings and wiring diagrams.
  • Knowledge of the National Electric Code.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, schedule, and carry out work assignments effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Experience performing manual and physical labor in varied environmental conditions.
  • Strength to lift heavy weight to shoulder height.
  • Ability to use and operate an aerial bucket truck up to 50 feet.
  • Good ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions and comply with all safety rules/policies to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Ability to perform manual physical labor in the installation and removal of traffic signs and other traffic control devices.
  • Ability to work in environmental conditions which include extreme cold and hot outside conditions, exposure to noise, dust, asphalt, traffic, and heavy construction.
  • Ability to get a Class A Commercial Driver's License Permit required within 60 days of hire and a full license within 360 days of hire.

You may be required to work during non-traditional work hours including weekends, holidays, nights, and during emergencies.
