The Challenge
We're looking for 3 Electronics Technicians to join our Durham Traffic Services team.
In this role, you will:
- Maintain and repair electrical, electronic, and traffic control systems.
- Install traffic signal equipment by wiring/installing signal heads, wiring detectors, and installing/wiring controllers.
- Trace out electrical wiring diagrams, locate trouble, dismantle controls, replace worn/faulty parts, reassemble, and test traffic control systems.
- Supervise helpers.
- Re-lamp/repair roadway light fixtures and troubleshoot/repair roadway lighting control cabinets.
What You Bring
- General knowledge of the principles and practices applied in the safe/efficient use of tools, materials, and test equipment used in the electrical/electronic trades.
- Ability to diagnose equipment failure sources and repair/maintain a wide variety of complex electrical equipment.
- Knowledge of standard test equipment used to diagnose electronic components.
- Experience reading and understanding schematic drawings and wiring diagrams.
- Knowledge of the National Electric Code.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, schedule, and carry out work assignments effectively with minimal supervision.
- Experience performing manual and physical labor in varied environmental conditions.
- Strength to lift heavy weight to shoulder height.
- Ability to use and operate an aerial bucket truck up to 50 feet.
- Good ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions and comply with all safety rules/policies to maintain a safe work environment.
- Ability to perform manual physical labor in the installation and removal of traffic signs and other traffic control devices.
- Ability to work in environmental conditions which include extreme cold and hot outside conditions, exposure to noise, dust, asphalt, traffic, and heavy construction.
- Ability to get a Class A Commercial Driver's License Permit required within 60 days of hire and a full license within 360 days of hire.
