IQVIA Clinical Data Scientist in Durham, North Carolina

Location: Home-based in the U.S. or Canada

Summary: IQVIA is seeking a Clinical Data Scientist, at the Senior level, to join an Advanced Analytics group within a Clinical Data Science department. Join our team that is dedicated to the long-term efforts of a prominent Pharmaceutical company. Work fully within the environment of the Pharma.

Collaborate with other scientists and engineers to leverage machine learning methods and algorithms for modeling and analysis of clinical operations and clinical trials data.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, test, deploy and maintain innovative data and machine learning solutions to improve clinical operations.

  • Create experiments and prototype implementations of new learning algorithms and prediction techniques.

  • Collaborate with scientists, engineers, product managers and business stakeholders to design and implement software solutions.

  • Use machine learning best practices to ensure a high standard of quality for all of the team deliverables.

  • SQL Query Assistance: Assist in crafting SQL queries to extract data from individual or multiple, large databases. Experience with PostgreSQL is a plus.

  • Optimizing Database and Query Performance: Develop materialized views and implement indexing strategies to enhance query speed and ensure efficient execution of application-specific queries. Write efficient queries that don’t require materialized view creation when possible.

  • Data Quality Monitoring: Help establish a robust data quality monitoring framework for early detection and resolution of data quality issues following bulk data loads.

  • Database Documentation Maintenance: Maintain and develop comprehensive database documentation for other users and data scientists.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field. Working experience will be considered in lieu of a related educational degree.

  • Proven experience as a Data Scientist in the areas of life sciences, clinical trials.

  • Develop effective data science solutions by applying ML/AI (deep learning, NLP, Causal inference methods) to deliver business value.

  • Strong knowledge of SQL, database structures, schema design, and query tuning principles, and practices.

  • Proficient in machine learning, information retrieval, and applied statistics.

  • Ability to do exploratory analysis on large volumes of data and find key descriptive and inferential properties.

  • Familiarity with Python is also necessary.

  • Familiarity with data quality monitoring and data preparation techniques.

  • Familiarity with the pharmaceutical industry and clinical data is strongly preferred.

The potential base pay range for this role, when annualized, is $106,200.00 - $177,000.00. The actual base pay offered may vary based on a number of factors including job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education, and experience; location; and/or schedule (full or part-time). Dependent on the position offered, incentive plans, bonuses, and/or other forms of compensation may be offered, in addition to a range of health and welfare and/or other benefits.
