Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Traffic Control Technician in Dunmore, Pennsylvania

The Department of Transportation is currently on the lookout for a skilled Traffic Control Technician to join their team. As an Engineering Technician, you will be responsible for carrying out a range of entry-level technical tasks and data collection related to Traffic Studies, Safety, and Signing. DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing and processing banner submissions, special event notifications, race agreements, and film shoot agreements. Additionally, you will assist in deploying the Department's Speed Minder Trailers as needed and participate in District Project Scoping's as required. Communication will be a key aspect of this position, as you will be corresponding with the public, businesses, elected officials, and engineering consultants through letters, emails, and telephone calls regarding traffic and engineering studies. You will also be preparing reports of field data for design purposes and assisting in conducting after-studies for various projects. Coordinating and scheduling traffic data collection operations for traffic studies, collecting speed limit data, and extracting traffic count data from the Central Office mainframe computer are also part of the responsibilities. Additionally, you will be involved in performing safety reviews of locations for potential safety projects and participating in Road Safety Audits (RSA) as needed. This role requires working with considerable independence, with general instructions received from the direct supervisor who reviews work periodically or upon completion. You will also be performing a variety of technical duties related to traffic design activities, other programs, and other related duties as required. Additionally, you will assist in other units of the Traffic Section, such as Signals, Risk Management, and Operations, as directed by the Studies/Safety/Signing Supervisor. Finally, you will participate in the District's Road Condition Reporting System (RCRS) in a back-up role and staff the District Incident Command Center (ICC) when directed by the District Traffic Engineer.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.   REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year of experience as an Engineering Technician; or Three years of experience performing transportation engineering technical assignments, such as traffic control data collection, highway sign surveys, traffic signal inspection, materials sampling, testing, or inspection, construction inspection, bridge inspection, survey work, utility relocation, roadway programs management, or roadway materials control; and graduation from high school; or One year of experience performing transportation engineering technical assignments, such as traffic control data collection, highway sign surveys, traffic signal inspection, materials sampling, testing, or inspection, construction inspection, bridge inspection, survey work, utility relocation, roadway programs management, or roadway materials control; and an Associate's Degree in the field of mathematics, statistics, or a civil engineering technology; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
