ABOUT THE ROLE

The Senior Manager of Projects is responsible for managing the envelope of capital projects. Focusing on ensuring on-time delivery for assigned capital projects, and prioritizing capex needs to support the terminal operations.

He or she will lead and direct the team of project managers on various capex projects. The ideal candidate is a person who lives with integrity, cares about quality, strives for performance and can consistently execute. This person should have a solid technical background in mechanical, electrical and civil construction. Specific skills include team leadership, technical support, financial analysis, equipment and operational leases justification cases, capex business cases and reporting results to executive leadership within the organization.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Be a champion of safety and security policies are implemented for each project and that these projects are delivered with zero harm, upholding the highest standards in health and safety.

  • Lead the development of project business cases, consisting of scope, technical descriptions, scenarios, costs and paybacks for executive and board approval.

  • Act as team leader for implementation of terminal expansion and maintenance projects, covering civil, mechanical and electrical disciplines.

  • Inspire high levels of project management and delivery with regard to construction site safety, construction performance, technical excellence, quality of the delivered project, budget management and reporting and quick production ramp-up according to deadlines and budget.

  • Drive and deliver according to corporate design and project delivery standards, ensure technical excellence

  • Prepares and delivers planning and progress reports to management and executive team members.

  • Act as liaison with other functions on implementation of corporate initiatives and projects, such as safety programs, contractor management, procurement initiatives, etc

  • Comply with requirements to use and master company tools and systems for project management.

  • Manage commercial aspects of major projects (RFQ’s, contract negotiations, contract disputes, etc)

  • Lead and act as a role model, and coach for a team of terminal project managers.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Education: Bachelor or Undergraduate Degree

Additional Education Preferred: Masters degree

Field of Study Preferred: Engineering, Business, Finance

Required Work Experience: 5 years

Licenses Preferred: Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification a plus

Required Computer and Software Skills: Microsoft Office, SAP

Travel Requirements: 30%

Additional Requirements:

  • Excellent written communication skills

  • Expert in building executive presentation materials

  • Demonstrated analytical and financial skills

  • Experience with Drawings software, Project Management software, SAP a plus

  • Knowledgeable with civil, mechanical, electrical disciplines

  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment (“PPE”), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
