DESCRIPTION OF WORK As an Infection Preventionist Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for the Infection Prevention and Control Program (IPCP). The IPCP is designed to provide a safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment and to help prevent the development and transmission of communicable diseases and infections. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating systems for preventing, identifying, reporting, investigating, and controlling infections and communicable diseases based upon the Pennsylvania Veterans Home's facility assessment and following accepted national standards for all residents, staff, volunteers, visitors, and other individuals providing services under a contractual arrangement. Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment, 40-hours per week Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, rotating days including weekends and holidays, with a 30-minute lunch. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Two years of professional nursing experience in a healthcare facility.

Special Requirements:

You must be in possession of an Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) Certificate of Mastery issued by the National Association of Directors of Nursing Administration in Long Term Care (NADONALTC), possession of an active Certified in Infection Control (CIC) certification as issued by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC), or possession of an active Long-Term Care Certification in Infection Prevention (LTC-CIP) certification as issued by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC).

You must have an active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.

All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

Other Requirements: PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title. You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements: A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination. This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act. Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
