Specific tasks will include developing appropriate environmental education lesson plans and materials that can be used to raise awareness of mercury pollution issue and motivate action within the community; organizing and attending public outreach events where the bioremediation project can be shared with the public; researching and writing of an academic manuscript about the research efforts of the research team, assisting with and documenting progress on the plant and microbial research work in the lab or field as needed, and monitoring the research team email address and send out updates on the project to our email list. Qualifications Required qualification: BA/BS or a combination of related education and work experience to equal four years; applies knowledge and skill to a recurring task or activity with emphasis typically on precision and timeliness of execution. Preferred qualifications: Completed a Masters in Environmental Education Prior experience with citizen science projects, ideally within Minnesota Prior experience working in interdisciplinary research teams Strong organizational, research, and communication skills Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Ability to work remotely with occasional work in Duluth (e.g. public outreach activities) Knowledge of current scientific research on mercury within the St Louis River watershed Interest in decolonizing science and Indigenous Ways of Knowing Ability to engage with Native American research partners as well as community partners Familiarity with mercury within the St Louis River watershed.
