The Shipping Clerk will serve as a focal point within the business to interface with customers and trucking companies, as well as with Overland Park personnel on a daily basis to answer any questions about delivery, open orders and inventory.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: ( Management reserves the right to add or modify the duties and responsibilities at any time.)

  • Operate truck scale for processing shipments and deliveries and maintain shipment logs on a daily basis.

  • Schedule pickup times for the different products for both packaged and bulk products with truckers and production supervisor and plant staff; create a daily schedule.

  • Keep accurate transfer records of products on a daily basis.

  • Process production reports on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.

  • Screen and direct visitors/truck drivers in a professional manner; direct all visitors on safety requirements and processes.

  • Maintain inventories of product for timely scheduling and shipment for customers.

  • Re-arrange pickup and delivery schedule based on availability of product at plant.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve questions around the inventory management barcoding system and order picking process.

  • Send weekly inventories to corporate office and managers for specific products.

  • Record scale transactions for record keeping.

  • Coordinate with customers on arranging pickup times for both bulk and packaged loads.

  • Weigh trucks in and out of depot to ensure they are legal to leave the property and not over the weight limit. Also weigh trucks for outside companies that use our certified scale.

  • Ensure that railcars are spotted on a daily basis.

  • Work closely with production on inventory entry and tracking (lot code confirmations, etc.).

  • Order office and safety supplies and maintain inventories accordingly; order tickets and paper for bulk and packaged shipments.

  • Perform monthly calibration and service checks on equipment stored in office (safety equipment, radios, etc.).

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Associates degree in Business or Logistics; or a minimum of 2 years experience working in Logistics/Dispatching/Shipping

  • Experience with Enterprise One or JWS strongly preferred.

  • Experience with inventory control, barcoding an order picking software strongly preferred.

  • Experience with trucking industry or bulk terminal operations strongly preferred.

  • Must have strong systems knowledge and clerical accuracy.

  • Proficient in MS Word, Power-Point and Excel. Advanced skills in Excel or Access helpful.

  • Must be able to work well under pressure and multi task.
