ALLETE Environmental Compliance Specialist I - 5311 in Duluth, Minnesota

RESPONSIBILITIES: Under supervision, perform routine to complex environmental engineering and compliance tasks requiring application of scientific theory and concepts in a particular field to several aspects such as, data entry, data review and analysis, studies, testing, permitting, compliance, auditing, waste management, inspections, regulatory analysis, to support compliance with existing and new environmental regulations and programs in the water quality and was etc. Perform administrative work relating to assignments. Will have direct involvement with the Company's Environmental Management System (EMS) and coordination and management of the Environmental Management Information System (EMIS). Effective performance achieved through application of internal and professional practices and economics to assure compliance with all rules, regulations, and permits while maintaining reliable, cost effective service REQUIRED EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, biology, natural/physical science, physics or equivalent. Candidates completing their degree by December 31, 2024 will be considered REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: No experience required Experience with electric utility environmental regulations and compliance is preferred. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: This position may be considered for a hybrid work arrangement based on ALLETE's needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the employee's position will be a blend of work performed both in-person and at an offsite location such as an employee's home office. This position will report to Duluth, MN Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license as some travel may be required.
